As many of you know christine began to take dancing seriously app. one year ago. With a lot of encouragement from her friends in the dance community she was nudged into a formal competition. This past weekend she competed for the first time ever at the annual Ft. Worth "Texas Hoe-Down." She danced Saturday and today she learned that her performances in four dances earned her four GOLD FINISHES, one came “with honors.” I found the results online. I’d expect her to be home tonight or tomorrow, but all in all she made quite a statement to the dance community of Texas. Well done christine, and may this be the start of a new chapter in your life!

I have my wife to thank for that - Dancing with the Stars :) (Not that I watch it, I'd rather watch James Bond re-runs)
I'm actually taking wifey this Friday for our first lesson. Our youngest daughter is about to get engaged and since this is the last wedding I'll have to pay for, I'm going to learn to dance! (somewhat) :)
haha! have fun. I was dragged to dance lessons several yrs ago, "salsa". It was funny, and sort of goofy. it went on every week for months, and somehow i slipped out of it unscathed. :-)

Thanks, all. ;) I won first place in both of my dances, each of which I did in 2 different age brackets in the Newcomers Division. Within my age-bracket, there were only 5 competitors; but in the younger age-bracket, there were 15 competitors. So, in all, I competed against 20 other dancers. I won 1st place and was awarded Gold with Honors in my Nightclub routine; and Gold Graduate in my 2step routine. The Gold Graduate designation in the event is a very rare occurrence I was told by my pro. It means that all 5 judges scored me #1 against all 20 of my competitors. It also means that, with only one competition on my resume, I will be allowed to advance to the Novice Division in the 2step in future competitions if I want to. Spectators are not allowed to video any of the event, as there is a professional videographer who videos the entire event and sells the DVD. All together, for my 2 dances, there were about 6 different heats. My husband covertly took the video of my very first dance, in the very first heat, in the older (yes, I'm old) age bracket. Bill wanted to get the video of me competing against the younger age-bracket contestants, later, as there were some pretty good dancers there, a higher energy level, and I was less nervous, but he was unable to.
