Tried to buy some smokes yesterday, young man behind counter asks to see ID ... I laugh and ask if he's joking ... I have callouses 3X older than him ... nope, he's not joking, so I hand him ID and instead of just looking at it, he scans the damn thing and their computer flags me, my expired driver's license is not a valid ID for buying cigarettes I told him that if he wasn't allowed to determine I was more than 18 simply by looking at this with my picture and the lines in this old fart's face, then we have a problem - at this point, manager reaches for telephone and co-workers start coming from around counter ... I'm half laughing ... customers inline are getting annoyed with my non-compliance, except for one lil ole lady who grinned at me and made some kinda comment about America being free
Manager finally decides they will allow it this one time but I must get ID to return
some POS mini-mart with a big Stripes sign out front has decided that since I don't have a valid ID, I can not buy cigarettes - the law intended to keep minors from smoking is being used to enforce this BS of TPTB wanting us all to be accurately marked - seems damn silly
gets better - this expired ID with my fingerprints, scanable photo and god knows whatever else they have on the magnetic strip, IS NOT a valid ID for getting a renewal?? - I must get an original birth certificate, that does not have photo or fingerprints ... to prove that I am the guy on this ID ????
I gotta say, the looks from some of the sheeple when attempting non-compliance mode reminds me of stuff I seen in old horror movies. 'Pod People' comes to mind and 'Them' - gonna be exciting to see what happens at a random check point some day
