AP: Zimmerman To Be Charged With 2nd Degree Murder

George Zimmerman will be charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of unarmed Florida teen Trayvon Martin, the Associated Press reports. Both the AP and NBC News report that Zimmerman is in police custody. The charges are expected to be announced at 6 p.m. ET. Reported by David Taintor

There is no doubt that Zimmerman is a busy body wannabe who took himself and his neighborhood watch duties too seriously. The number of calls he made to the police indicates that. I've met people like that and I don't like them.

Having said that, I have read no article that makes the claim that Zimmerman confronted the guy, demanded to know who he was and tried to impede him from his business. What I have read is that he followed him and the guy turned around and attacked Zimmerman. The police report states that Zimmerman's face was messed up. A witness claims that Zimmerman was on his back with the guy on top of him giving him a beating.

It seems like a clear cut case of self defense to me.

Exactly.like i said weeks ago,a weirdo like zimmerman would never had lasted where i grew up.He followed the guy, even the cops told him not to pursue the guy.He initiated the whole thing. Its just a shame that Martin was not as prepared as the agressor

I agree that Zimmerman initiated the whole thing. He's a busy body prick who likes to stick his nose in where it doesn't belong. However, following someone does not give the person being followed the right to attack the follower. Once Martin attacked, Zimmerman had the right to protect himself from that attack.
