she resisted and was cuffed.

Resisted?????? What a PC laff.

I remember when any wayward student got physical, they received a smack on their head, the teacher grabbed a handful of hair and the "child" would be slammed down into their seat.

That rarely happened, we had better upbringing and the teacher was God.

In a few years LEO's will not only be handcuffing children they'll be water boarding them. Got to show the sheep who is in charge and the earlier the better. Makes for a more compliant populace.

The report says when the officer tried to calm the child, she resisted and was cuffed.

Doesn't say what she resisted. Arrest?

They took the child to the police station where she was charged with simple assault and damage to property. Because of her age, she will not have to go to court.

So no trial? Then why bother charging her, unless she's simply presumed guilty tribunal style.

Do they have special handcuffs to go on a child that small? Would regular adult cuffs even work? I'd imagine there's a fair chance of injury putting those heavy adult cuffs on a 6 year old, especially one who's throwing a fit.

I despised "rule book cops." To have any success in the field one needs a large dose of discretion, something that apparently isn't encouraged in today. If had authority in this matter, I'd fire the responding cop(s) and his superiors who found this conduct acceptable.

No high voltage? There obviously wasn't enough force used to restrain this six year old.

Yes, if someone is arrested (how would a kid know what a “charge” is) they cannot resist arrest. And yes, most handcuffs can be made to restrain even a child. About not going to court, I haven’t an effing clue. All I can say is that we aren’t in America anymore Toto.

Bad enough the kid has to sit through the day in a wooden chair being "taught" by some illiterate asshat of a teacher, now they have to worry about being arrested.

IMO this kid was acting perfectly normal to an egregious assault on her developing intellect.

It was called "discipline" in those ancient days.

That word has been replaced with "political correctness".

Instead they will probably receive a citation for valor.

This is a local issue and can easily be dealt with if the local population would organize and do something about it. Unfortunately, instead what you are likely to find is that the majority agree with the action - especially the senior citizen population.

That is but one form of the real movement.

"Totalitarianism ...

(or totalitarian rule) is a political system where the state recognizes no limits to its authority and strives to regulate every aspect of public and private life wherever feasible.[2] Totalitarian regimes stay in political power through an all-encompassing propaganda campaign, which is disseminated through the state-controlled mass media, a single party that is often marked by political repression, personality cultism, control over the economy, regulation and restriction of speech, mass surveillance, and widespread use of terror".

I don't know about anyone else but the trends that I see being pushed into high gear have me spending more than a few sleepless nights. I've never felt stronger that we are about to tumble into the abyss. There are no political solution left for us and I have to agree with you, bloodshed is galloping toward us at a quickened pace. It's so very difficult to balance a "normal" life with what we know is coming. Part of me wants to spend each day as normal, but that inner voice we all have is screaming at me to get ready in every way possible. We have seen America at it's zenith and we're now about to watch it change radically, with the outcome a total unknown.

That was my response. This child was out of control and the mother's response was "she has mood swings"? There was some serious lack of parenting going on here. That said, calling the cops was not the answer.

I can't recall ever being called to a school because a student, never mind a 6- year old, was incorrigible.

The take away here is the growing involvement of the police into mundane matters.

Sure but they cannot arrest simply for resisting arrest, as there has to be a legit reason to arrest in the first place. Seems her crime was resisting attempts to be calmed.

One would think but an illegal arrest cannot be resisted either, ergo the resisting charge becomes the primary charge. Simply psychotic, no? Again, considering this kid was 6-years old, she had absolutely no conception of a crime, a charge or resisting. This vid should make the finals for the 2012 "Darwin Awards."

Exactly! I had two intelligent and head strong boys. I would explain things and give reasons but there was always mamma will beat the crap out of you if you get out of hand. Small follow throughs made the threat real.

Now that is called "child abuse", back then Mom called it discipline.

My Mother had a strong left hand she used to ring my chimes now and again.

If it was a major offense, she would tell Dad when he got home, for instance get caught smoking. Got caught first time, consequently have never been a smoker. Thank them for that.

Not how it worked in our house. My husband would threaten with no results then he would resort to asking me to make them mind. All I would do is stand up and I would get results.

I remember one time at the grocery store, my oldest was acting up. I told him if he didn't straighten up I would beat him right there and no one would say a word cause he deserved it. The check out lady just smiled. He is a happy extremely well adjusted young man now.

The biggest change was when they gave a World War, borrowed money and invited us to participate.

Looking back to that time, there has been war nearly continuous since then.

We are still at war, hopelessly in debt and sometimes I question the change. Just perhaps hungry and poor is better than endless dying in far off wars.

I operate on the saying, "It's easier to get forgiveness than permission," which means I don't follow some rules.

If I want to do something, I do it, get in trouble, then get forgiven.

Many years ago I had an apartment, did not like the color, and painted it. The landlord glared at me but that was all he did.
