For some reason the blank lines weren't new paragraphs and my tag didn't show.

We'll see how it goes now.

No tag...maybe when the entire machine is rebooted.

I can't use the latest on my Mac without upgrading the OS which I am not going to do until I get a new machine. The version I'm running now does everything I need it to so there is no need.

My only reason for the change was the PCWorld review which said that the latest Mozilla offering pretty much smoked the competition and was more secure than it used to be.

I think they don't really have versions now, just updates which also patch security holes. They still give it a version number but overall, it is not a major version, just a update in an attempt to keep up with Chrome which has given Firefox and IE some stiff competition. I am rooting for Firefox, but Chrome is very impressive and is constantly gaining market share which means as a web developer it can't be ignored and isn't going away anytime soon. Actually, Opera is a very good browser too, but since they aren't open source I haven't really used it much except for testing sites.

It does appear to be faster. That's great! Maybe Firefox can make a comeback now, it has been losing market share for the last year or so to Chrome.

I wouldn't touch Chrome with a ten foot pole because I don't trust Google. They are linked to the intelligence community and they censor results - if only subtly.

I like Firefox and I liked Netscape - although they are now the same thing. Netscape had a nice built in pop up text editor which I really liked for posting because I could just pop it up, write the post, and check more easily for grammar or typos. Opera I have used as well. The older version I didn't care for because they made you look at ads unless you bought a copy. That has changed now, and there are a couple of music plug-ins that run best with Opera and last I knew were not available for Firefox - Scorch is one and I forget the other off the top of my head. Oh, and I left out Safari. Safari is alright but I do not like that the choice of Search Engines in the address bar is anyone you want as long as its Google. With Firefox I have a whole list of Search Engines, and I don't use Google except on very rare occasions.

I don't trust Google either, but Chrome is open source so it would be kind of hard for them to put anything in that would cause you a problem. Also there is the completely open source Chromium that Chrome is made from that is available to use as well. Chromium is the cutting edge of Chrome browsers and has the latest in speed improvements and security. The only reason I don't use it more often is because I don't want to give them anymore market share and I really like the Firebug add on for Firefox. But now it appears Firefox might have either just matched or beat chrome in speed so I have no reason to use chrome now except for testing sites.

I know you probably haven't used IE in a long time, but it now also offers a choice of search engine sites you can use. I kind of like duckduckgo and use it most of the time. I am kind of surprised Microsoft is still supporting Bing since it hasn't done too well in market share, but it doesn't hurt for them to be there to give Google at least some competition. Bing is better than Yahoo in my opinion.

At this point DuckDuckgo is my default search engine. I used to use Ixquick but it's slower, but it does have image search.

I've never used Bing and I think I might have used Yahoo twice in the last 18 months. I was using mostly Scroogle until its demise.

Absolutely, although it's becoming increasingly difficult to avoid a goog relationship of some sort on the internet.

Great.

Even the SpeedTest.net results are much, much faster with 12.0.
