The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”

Many years ago I saw a program on TV called "Button, button."

If you pushed the button you got a million dollars and someone died. A woman pushed the button.

A guy took the box away and the woman asked him, "What happens now?"

He said, "I give the box to someone else and if someone pushes the button, they get a million dollars and someone dies."

And he looks at the woman who pushed the button and smiled at her.

"And in the absence of thought or action by people of generally good faith, action by the more extreme and violent is assured."
