Phant... I went looking to see how much the grunts on the ground in Afghanistan get per month for...COMBAT PAY... For being shot at and bombed by "civilians" the grunts receive about ......EIGHT DOLLARS A DAY...... A benevolent citizenry that hires these grunts lets them have the eight dollars...TAX FREE.... Can you imagine, eight bucks a day, tax free just for letting people shoot at you????????? Now mind you, they do NOT get all that loot UNTIL THEY FINISH THEIR ENTIRE YEAR IN AFGHAN AND RETURN STATESIDE. If they come back in a box, their family gets the eight dollars a day. Damned cheap pay I would say, for having people shoot at you. It costs taxpayers a million bucks a year to keep one grunt in Afghan, and we give the grunt eight bucks a day. Billboard advertising is akin to putting an ad for service in the Philadelphia inquirer. It's passe. For a fraction of the money (I'm guessing) you could add an audio component to 4um and broadcast a daily talk show via the 'net. Are there any 'puter geeks out there who would like to try this concept? I'd like to try and get beyond typing at each other and begin talking. Just perhaps that will widen our audience and increase the information flow.
