Brat's in the White House

I sent my son to college just the other day
Figured he'd party in the usual way
There were political games and bills to pay
He learned to lie while he was away
He was stretching truth with all he'd say
Drank too much and drove home stewed
"Misunderestimated just like you, dad
Misunderestimated just like you"

And the brat's in the White House with his silver spoon
Little boy Bush has his dad he can trust
"When should I bring them home?"
"Son, I don't know when, wait until you win again?
Mission reaccomplished then?"

Well, I voted for my son just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the vote, dad. Bring it on, let's play
But could you teach me what to do?"
I said, "Not today. I'm planning a coup."
He said, "That's okay"
And he walked away but his smirk never dimmed
"You know, I'm gonna make the pie higher like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna make the pie higher like him"

And the brat's in the White House with his silver spoon
Little boy Bush has his dad he can trust
"When should I bring them home?"
"Son, I don't know when, wait until you win again?
Mission reaccomplished then?"

Well, my son got reelected just yesterday
Since I passed on invading I had this to say
"Hey, how's that Iraq War working out?"
He shook his head and he started to pout
"What I really need is an exit strategy
Could you work on it dad, and give it to me?"

And the brat's in the White House with his silver spoon
Little boy Bush has his dad he can trust
"When should I bring them home?"
"Son, I don't know when, wait until you win again?
Mission reaccomplished then?"

I've long since retired, my son's still trying to pay
I called him on it just the other day
"I'd like to tell you, deficits really do matter"
He said, "If you say so dad but the budget's getting fatter
You see the market crashed again and then there's this new bird flu
Oh yeah, and the economy is collapsing too"
And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He hadn't grown up just like me
My boy still thinks everything in life is free

And the brat's in the White House with his silver spoon
Little boy Bush has his dad he can trust
"When should I bring them home?"
"Son, I don't know when, wait until you win again?
Mission reaccomplished then?"

I just have one major problem with your song parodies: They don't scan. You don't watch the syllable count, and so it makes it rather challenging to sing along or even read along. For instance, the original lyric goes "He'd say I'm gonna be like you, dad. You know I'm gonna be like you". You wrote "Misunderestimated just like you, dad. Misunderestimated just like you" In the original the stanza has seventeen syllables, in your version there are twenty one syllables. Makes singing along a bit chewy.

So anyway, my humble suggestion to you is to take the time to count the syllables in the songs you are going to parody, and try to keep the number of syllables in your parodies as close as possible to the original count. One syllable more or less here and there can be worked with, but when the syllable count gets too far off it's less of a parody and more of a homage...

I do count, but right or wrong I simply can't pass on a "misunderestimated" reference.
