NOM spokesperson: LGBTs will make us all sex-worshipping, pagan ‘hedonists’ By David Ferguson Tuesday, May 29, 2012 16:00 EDT Print

National Organization for Marriage (NOM) spokesperson Jennifer Roback Morse appeared on head of the Southern Baptist Convention Richard Land’s radio talk show “Richard Land Live!” on Sunday. Right Wing Watch reports that together with Land, Morse decried the influence of LGBT people on our culture and said that acceptance of LGBT people in our society will ultimately lead to a “pagan” world where people “worship sex” as “sacramental.”

Land, who is currently under investigation by the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission for heated remarks he made regarding the Trayvon Martin case, welcomed Morse and thanked a caller who praised him for fighting “this demon of homosexuality.”

“My comment is that I thank God for you all for standing up for God’s holiness and righteousness against this demon of homosexuality,” said the caller, “My pastor past but he once said that this demon will be the last one to leave this earth because it is so strong and over in all of the New Testament and coming up to now it’s—”

“Let me just say that first of all,” Land said, cutting the caller off, “that the Devil takes pleasure in anything that causes destruction in human society and the homosexual lifestyle does cause destruction. It’s seen as one of the evidences in the decline of every empire we have seen; studies have shown it became rampant in the Persian Empire, the Greek Empire, the Roman Empire, the British Empire.”

Land and Morse claimed to be ranged against a “secular theocracy” that seeks to instill “full-blown pagan” values in our society.

“I mean totally focused on self, anything that feels good do it,” Land said, “just like the Greco-Roman orgies of the 1st Century and 2nd Century AD; same thing that our early Christian forefathers faced.”

“That’s very true,” agreed Morse, “the hedonism, the hedonistic aspect of the culture. What I wondered you were going to say is full-on paganism I would think of as somehow worshiping sex, as sex taking on a kind of sacramental role.”

Full audio is available at Right Wing Watch.

NOM came under fire earlier this year when strategy documents leaked that detailed a race-baiting plan for dividing Democrats and undermining support on the left for LGBT people and same sex marriage. Presumptive Republican nominee and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is among the organization’s top tier donors, giving $10,000 to the organization in 2008.

"But Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with His finger. When they kept onquestioning Him, he straightened up and said to them, 'If any of you is without sin, let him bethe first to throw a stone at her." -- John 8:7

As he came up out of the river after being baptized God declared from heaven: “This is my much loved Son. With him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17). It was when Jesus identified with sinners, when he claimed his place among the broken people of God, that God declared, “With him I am well pleased.” We, too, please God most when we come closest to those we are called to serve. You cannot spread His Word to homosexuals from a distance or by driving them away from Him through condemnation.

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Luke 15:

Now all the tax-gatherers and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. And both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, "This man receives sinners and eats with them."

In Jesus' day, eating with someone was a way to acknowledge that person as an equal. Religious leaders considered it unthinkable for a Jewish teacher to eat with people who were common, even unclean. But Jesus cared more about saving souls than saving face. He says it's normal for someone to search for something they've lost; the lost thing is valuable and important to him, and he goes all-out to get it back. When he "eats with sinners," he's looking for something that's lost. He's talking about you and me and our friends & family and the whole world. Unfortunately, those like Land and Morse don't understand His Word.

Yes, we're all sinners, but what Jesus doesnt want us to do is embrace our sin and call it virtue, which is what the pervs, inspired by satan, seek acceptance & celebration of sin, while denying that it is a sin.

While we might have differences on theology we arrive at the same conclusion and that is that Homo community is no longer merely seeking fair treatment but demanding that their perversions be accepted as "normal". They are NOT "normal". They are aberrations and as such we may, in justice and compassion, tolerate them but there is nothing which requires us to accept their perversions, and there is a difference.

Wonder where we would all be headed if He hadn't come and tried to bring us to Him. Trying to do as the Lord wishes and bring them to Him is not the same as condoning what they do. Problem is the right-wing "Christians of Convenience" keep forgetting they are to try and bring them to Him and instead condemn not only what they do but condemn the person and try to push them away from redempion.

If there was no need to save or no reason to try to save then He wasted him time coming here and I don't think many would agree with that.

Amen. I may find homosexuality disgusting, but that does not mean I think that they should be abandoned. However, I wouldn't want my sister to marry one. ;-)

I have had fellow Christians tell me we should not let homosexuals attend our church. Yes it is a sin and an aberration and I have no problem saying so. Then I ask them does that mean since they have sinned we should not allow them to attend our church? If that were the case, all churches would be empty.

One of my favorite pieces of Scripture is

Luke 15

1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

It's like I tell them, if we were all half as perfect as some of us think then His coming was a waste of His time. Thank God He didn't see it that way. If sin was a reason to push people away from the Lord then we all would be pushed off into a corner with no hope.
