Moldi-Boxes actions over the years towards yukon, (and more recently Gatlin, harrowup, and GrandIsland) makes it clear that this is the case. What's sad is that the people there fall for it time after time and feed off into their tactics instead of ignoring them and staying focused on the issue.
The question is why has she done this? Why does she not only allow it to continue but actively protect them and ban those who object to loudly? I have come up with two possibilities. The first is that she was caught selling defense secrets to Israel when she took her MIC job and instead of throwing her in jail she allowed the government to take over her site. The second is that when she moved to Florida she began attending a militant synagogue filled with militant neocons. Being that she's a fake Jew who yearns for acceptance she has allowed them to take over.
Of course she could have just turned into a big government liberal (as most Jews are) and gets her rocks off allowing other liberals to destroy her site.
Whatever the case may be, it should be obvious to the most dense that there is something goin on over there.

I suspect your number 2 is the closest. As you likely recall back before the big purge which eliminated TwentyTwelve, Red Tacitus, and me (preceded and followed by others) El Pee had developed a coterie of very sharp posters (virtually all of whom are now gone) who were not fooled by the Daily Spin and routinely dissected it along with 911 and Israeli Propaganda. Additionally El Pee's Alexa rating was on a steady upward trend with a greatly increased readership of lurkers. As a result the place got noticed and targeted for destruction as the proles were becoming entirely too uppity and aware. So, someone I suspect FBI/CIA/Mossad moved in and bought Goldi-Schmuck. I noticed it shortly before my banning, for pointing out her dishonesty and hypocrisy, that she had not had a begathon in months despite her claims to being of stressed means. So, the money had to come from somewhere. And instructive also was that she was whining a lot about the time it was taking and blah, blah, blah, and Neil McIver/Pinguinite offered to take the site back and she would not even respond to the suggestion. So, someone bought her - probably a combination of Israeli interests.

THAT is a compelling theory. And quite plausible. And oh by the way - the surest way to an LP banning is obviously "pointing out her dishonesty and hypocrisy". Same game rules applied at FR.
With respect to "keeping the lights on" at LP, the last recent thon for funding in recent memory was requested for purely diversionary reasons...
It occurred last year directly amidst yu-klown's gay "I wuz hacked" episode and thread of the fake "death" of Mommy if everyone recalls. VOILA!! What "hack"?? Who's gay?? What death?? The ACLU Admiral and Gat-Rat at the time were hinting around at a power transfer.
That said - in the meantime and despite claims of monetary stress as you allude to - NO request for a thon or funding Liberty Post has occurred since (to the best of my recollection.)

Why shouldn't the PTB buy forum owners and content-control for what must surely be peanuts? Their control and diversionary tactics via disruptive Bots and klowns' ad hominems and shills makes sense...and debate AWAY FROM addressing meaningful issues.
LP's lurkership since JimRob began jettisoning Freepers by the thousands must surely have been substantial - as well as its potential membership (but only until sniffing the stench created by yu-klown, Fire Island, and the rest of the hardline Statist cabal. Yu-klown's role at LP is afterall - to limit membership and marginalize debate via his 24/7 disruption.)
The other theory for ownership/influence/control of LP's content (of which I've ascribed) is a silent-partnership pool which includes Statists yu-klown, gat-klown, and the ACLU-puppet since last year.
