Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.

And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!

The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

MORE

It was Condi who received two standing ovations at Romney's Utah retreat a few weeks ago, and everyone left with her name on their lips.

Rice made an extended argument for American leadership in the world.

In recent days, she emailed supporters:

"2012 is perhaps a turning point for the United States."

"The upcoming elections loom as one of the most important in my lifetime," she warned. "I'm very often asked to speak about our current foreign policy and the challenges that lie before us. However, we, as a country, are not going to be able to address any of those international challenges unless we first get our domestic house in order."

including the failure to prepare for an attack after she present Bush with a warning that Bin Laden intended to attack the US, the use of Gitmo as a concentration camp for Arab- Americans, the fake evidence of an Iraqi nuclear program, etc.

IIRC, the WTC was first "attacked" while Herr Klinton was president. Regarding the other points, all currently apply to O'Bummer.

I think you've lost perspective on the influence of the Pauls. They no longer have a movement, hence little to no influence.

They no longer have a movement, hence little to no influence.

Recall the deal was done BEFORE Paul jettisoned his quest for the presidency.

The move by Ron and Rand to endorse Oromney was a bungled one, however there are plenty of Paul closet supporters that will back Oromney.

If Oromney were to shut the Pauls out, there would be many staunch republicans that stay home.

Plus now we are saved, the Pauls are going to take over the internet, whatever that means, and they keep asking me for money.

Dude, have you lost it, or are you just a retard.

Retard to some.

If my view of Rice is wrong, I would not rate Oromney, Obongo and Biden as being qualified to hold present and past offices.

Whether we agree with it or not, Rice by experience is indeed more experienced than those three together.

This is the point in the campaign where a lot of trial balloons are going up. I wouldn't take all of this too seriously. I don't think they are going to be testing the waters with their first choice or choices right off the bat, and the woman in question is doing her best to dampen expectations.

True.

Politicians are good at floating balloons to see which one goes the highest. Some are made of lead and never get off the ground.

A betting person ignores how high they fly, rather how far they travel. Rice perhaps might be straight up this week and straight down next week.

I would give odds Rice will be VP mate.

Well, I think Rice is in it for the long haul, the political hacks dare not sharpen their knives on her. Most will play it cool and tamp down the rhetoric.

If it were not for Bush connection, Rice would be an ideal candidate for VP.

Rice would complement the Mormon's ticket in a lot of ways, but Smirk left a bad taste in the mouths of many, left and right, and her association with him is a big negative.

But I am interested to know what makes you think that Rice is more qualified than Romney or Hillary. She's an academic, which they ain't, but they almost never get near the levers of real power anyway.

Secretary of State again?

Rice would complement the Mormon's ticket in a lot of ways, but Smirk left a bad taste in the mouths of many, left and right, and her association with him is a big negative.

When deciding the odds, one must weigh her past with Bush II and Jeb Bush interest in the future.

This is where future interests are influencing present elections.

The Bush cabal will do anything to make another Bush President. Rice owes Bush cabal big time, just as did Colin Powell. Powell was eased out when he was no longer of use and he switched to Obama.

Perhaps Rice sees the chance to switch horses, to Oromney and a win would position her with a chance to be President.

There is another present and future clinker to add, that is the Pauls. Rand has visions of living in the White House. Right now it seems the Pauls are just milling around, waiting till the dust settles before committing themselves.

Qualified????

Academics aside, Rice has always been unflappable, no serious gaffes, ALWAYS IN TOTAL SELF CONTROL. That is the huge plus side.

The negative side,Jew inside and out.

HOWEVER, BEING BLACK, IF SHE BECAME PRESIDENT, I SUSPECT JEWS WOULD GET THE BACK OF HER HAND.

Yes, in the end, we will be held responsible for what we pay for.

In the end we will in some measure be held liable for the damages. We, or our children, will be asked to pay double fold or treble what we were soaked for in the first place.
