Ann Romney: 'We've Given All You People Need To Know' About Family Finances AP/The Huffington Post | Posted: 07/19/2012 8:54 am Updated: 07/19/2012 9:57 am S WASHINGTON -- Mitt Romney's wife is reinforcing her husband's refusal to make public several years of tax returns, saying "we've given all you people need to know" about the family's finances. "You know, you should really look at where Mitt has led his life, and where he’s been financially," she said. "He’s a very generous person. We give 10 percent of our income to our church every year. Do you think that is the kind of person who is trying to hide things, or do things? No. He is so good about it. Then, when he was governor of Massachusetts, didn’t take a salary for four years." Ann Romney told ABC News she thinks the Obama campaign's attacks on her husband have been "beneath the dignity of the presidency." And she said people will decide whom to vote for based on whether their lives would be better under Mitt Romney than President Barack Obama. She said that ultimately she believes voters are "going to fire the coach." CORRECTION: This article has been corrected to reflect that Ann Romney said "we've given all you people need to know" about her family finances.

That's the hired domestic help. I other words, us, the hapless citizens. Apart from the "you people" attitude, the simple fact is that, no, people feel a need for more information. There's something we're not being told about the )probably) richest man to get a major party candidacy. We know he's got Swiss bank accounts, Cayman Island bank accounts, several homes, lots of cars, etc., and that he may well be paying an appallingly small sum in taxes. Back in 2008, when he was hoping McCain would pick him for VP, he provided McCain with 23 years of tax returns (so we know he has these documents ready for us in his files) but this time only the one year when he was starting his run for President. Who has been subsidizing him? How small is his tax share? How significant his investments in outsourcing American jobs?

Well there you are. This is just the pass we've come to. Since we're not permitted to know a number of key things about the Chief Resident like his voting record, his academic record and writings, why he is no longer a member of the Illinois Bar, why we can't see his . . . I won't go there - since we're not to be privy to knowledge of all these things on his part, the Mormon must figure that we're not privileged to see any of the demons concealed in the reams of paperwork that constitute his tax returns. That's just where we're at now. We're no longer "We the People," we are now merely "you people." 'nuff (very well) said. Thanks. I get a newsletter from this site - lfb.org - and today's issue was about people hacking their .gov gas cans, shower-heads, stocking up on incandescent bulbs, TSP (which I bought yesterday for dish and clothes washing), and all manner of resistance/non-compliance items. We can decide for ourselves what we need to know and what we don't need to know. Running for a public office means you better be prepared to be open to public scrutiny. If you aren't, then get the fuck out of the race!
