WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman says former President George W. Bush is skipping the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., next month.

Bush spokesman Freddy Ford says the 43rd president is enjoying his time off the political stage and respectfully has declined the party's invitation to attend the event.

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney will formally be nominated at the convention.

Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush, earlier this week also declined to attend.

The two former presidents have endorsed Romney.

Uhhh, I somehow doubt that he ever received an invitation.

Lost in the mail? Barney the dog ate it!

respectfully has declined the party's invitation to attend the event.

Lesson on how future aspirations of those seeking power in the future, affect the coming election.

Ideal scenario for Bush cabal is, Obama wins, he is gone in four years, Romney loses he is gone for good, Rice does not run for VP, Rand Paul is sidelined, Jeb Bush has open field in 2016.

As it now stands, Rice insists she is not interested, the Pauls have frittered away most of the influence they would have had at the convention.

If Bush cabal hangs on to Rice, pays lip service to Romney, Obama may well win, this would please Bush tribe.

Man, I thought it was just the old man Bush that wasn't showing up this year. Interesting to see that Jr. won't be making an appearance.

He'd be expected to speak of course, and the Mormon fer sure does not want that albatross hung around his neck. Smirk left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths, and a lot of them blame him as much as Bammy for the prolonged downturn we're in.

Bush tribe is luke warm, lip service only, not one drop more for Oromney.

Also absent so far are the Nixons/Eisenhowers that were so gung ho for Obongo in 2008.

Backroom maneuvering and dealing has been going on for some time.

The relationship between morality and liberty is a directly proportional one.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. The next Bush POTUS will be George Prescott Bush, son of Jeb Bush. He's being groomed at this moment to take the Latino vote and sweep into the White House representing the non-white majority of America post-2016.

“With the exception of Whites, the rule among the peoples of the world, whether residing in their homelands or settled in Western democracies, is ethnocentrism and moral particularism: they stick together and good means what is good for their ethnic group."

He may well be the next one, but not until his Father has had a run at it, win or lose.

Also re the non white vote, read a story few days ago suggesting that blacks might well swing to white president vs latino.

Good stuff, people!

I believe (and thanks for asking!) that Bush can't stand the fact that he didn't abolish the 22nd amendment with one of his virile, omnipotent signing statements when he had the chance and he had a dutiful AG to opine (and a Supreme Court majority to support) that it was in the president's power to do so.

Walking tall among former subordinates (who no longer quake because the ground no longer shakes) would be too damaging to his childish ego self portrait. And, the man doesn't have a gracious bone in his coke, booze and alternative lifestyle-ravished body.

If G.W. thought he had enough support he'd step up to the mike and upstage the lessers seeking the nomination while fully expecting the SCOTUS to rule that the nuisance amendment is "superfluous".

"Listen boys, just let me run and I guarantee that when I win the court will uphold this courageous step, and I promise that I will once again help Americans put food on their families."

Laura Bush on the first ballot at Tampa, then she'll choose Colin Powell as VP because he's black. Jorge can be houseboy.

You know, that sounds so plausible that it's scary!

After years of brutality by Hillary and anger from Michelle, the very lovely and gracious Laura Bush could possibly beat all of the wormy and corrupt men vying for the throne.

And, many angry, otherwise disenfranchised colort peepul (who are clueless about the issues and only voted for the uniform) may indeed be soothed by Colin Powell on the ticket. After all, what has President Obama done to uplift the victims of "4,000 years of White oppression in America"?

And the vicious Obama haters would find Powell much harder to systematically disqualify. (And, Hillary or Sarah wouldn't dare publicly attack Laura. MEOW!)

I mean, what would they say, "Gen. Powell didn't back CIC Bush as he should have"? Would you bring up Bush if you and your buddies over at MIC Central Trust, (Freemason International Lodge 666, Owl's Perch Lane, Bohemian Grove, CA) were trying to slip into the program and grab the treasury keys again?

Yeah, good thinking, good thinking, there hondo. I'm going to be keeping my eye on you!
