On Saturday July 21, Sylvester Stallone and family laid to rest his son Sage, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Brentwood, CA. Sage was 36 years old when he died on July 13th. He was reportedly found by his housekeeper. I express my sincere condolences to Sylvester Stallone and his family over the tragic loss of their son. May his soul rest in peace. Stallone's official website, sylvesterstallone.com posted a message on July 14th along with a photo of his late son: As the years went on after Rocky II, I went and saw every subsequent Rocky film as it came out in theatres with my dad. It became sort of a family tradition; my favorites were Rocky II, III and IV. Not only was Rocky a great boxing movie, but his fighting spirit was representative of the relentless determination of the American resolve. The making of the film alone illustrated how sticking to ones convictions without compromise can pay off. One of the very first webpages I created on the internet in 1997 was a Rocky Balboa tribute page, which included the following information: Rocky (1976) The studio agreed to cast Stallone as Rocky as long as the cost of the picture remained under one million dollars. The producers even mortgaged their homes. The overall production cost was 1.1 million dollars. Ending scene: Rocky and Adrian push their way through the crowded boxing arena to reach each other, and then embrace. Only one week prior to his son's death, on July 7th at 1:25PM Stallone posted a message on twitter (@TheSlyStallone), writing: "I am ROCKY so I always root for the underdog, even though he rarely ever wins... I wish everyone could feel like a CHAMPION ONCE........" Stallone's public comments about American politics are not too well known. As revealed below, Stallone is not only a Hollywood superstar and cultural icon, but he is actually a very politically aware person and one to watch. In November 2010, popwatch noted that Stallone and actor Charlie Sheen were friends. Stallone had posted a series of comments on twitter about a Halloween double date with Bruce Willis and their wives, followed by a visit to see Sheen at home. Sheen, an outspoken 9/11 truth advocate, spoke at Alex Jones 911 truth symposium in Los Angeles in 2006. I had the pleasure of attending that event and it was one to remember. Bruce Willis himself has also boldly challenged the establishment by publicly scoffing at the official JFK assassination fable, featured in a June 2007 Vanity Fair article: "I'll get killed for saying this, but I'm pretty sure those guys are still in power, in some form. The entire government of the United States was co-opted." Times blog noted Stallone's remarks referencing Obama as "the Manchurian Candidate", but there was actually much more to the revealing exchange on twitter. In reality, what occurred is that Stallone spent Halloween evening 2010 talking with two politically informed fellow celebrities, Bruce Willis and Charlie Sheen. What followed was a noteworthy series of very insightful, albeit brief, political commentaries the next day. In what Stallone referred to as "difficult times" for the country, he railed against "manchurian candidates", "giant banks controling YOUR MONEY!", and lobbyists offering bribes to criminal politicians. The self-made movie producer also alterted people to "foreign enemies seeking to destroy America . Scary concept. Rise up!" He implored them to "Ignore the lies, OPEN your eyes!" and even invoked God's help: "P.S. Carter was horrible like Bush & Obama. Help us LORD!" Following are all the relevant posts: Halloween is the only time people can become what they what to be without getting fired.. last night was Halloween. Went out with Bruce w. and wives. Later dropped by Charlie Sheen's place and talked awhile then headed home... Charlie looks absolutely like you see him on TV...Maybe better. I voted did you? Gotta get the Manchurian Candidate out of the drivers seat before were ALL soaring off a cliff into Oblivion...Be smart. the Manchurian Candidate was a movie about fake president who was put there by foreign enemies to destroy America . Scary concept. Rise up! The last MAN started the mess now the NEW MAN wants to make permanent.... Ignore the lies, OPEN your eyes! A great quarterback is only as strong as his team,Right? Stallone also revealed that he had wanted to cast his "buddy Charlie Sheen" for a starring film role, noting "my buddy charlie sheen would be a strong choice....Almost had him for the first one but his wife birthed." The previous month, October 2010, Stallone had a contentious exchange with some other twitter users regarding 'haters' on the internet. But as usual, Stallone ended the exchange with a message of love and encouraged readers to "Keep punching, my friends": The difference between cockroaches and HATERS? The Roaches are survivors and have prettier legs. You have one life nobody should wreak it.. WRECK Sorry,I get to emotional. Haters are the new BULLYS ,but now their just Keyboard cowards! Stallone is one actor I've always liked. I became a fan in 1979 with the release of Rocky II, which was my all time favorite-ever movie when I was a kid. It struck a cord with me and millions of others. Not only was it a blockbuster feel-good film about an Italian Catholic, (which I related to being a half-Italian Catholic kid) but it conveyed a poignant theme of hope and redemption- a marvelous story of the likeable struggling underdog. When I saw the movie, I liked it so much that I bought all the memorabilia associated with the film: The Rocky II soundtrack on vinyl, the t-shirt, the book, & the poster. As a matter of fact, I still have the soundtrack on CD and ironically got it out a few weeks ago to listen in the car. It's a wonderfully inspiring collection of music by Bill Conti. Stallone himself even made reference to the insipring nature of the music in a twitter post on October 20, 2010, noting "Still healing getting stronger. Maybe I better keep listening to "Gonna Fly Now" in my head." The following track, OVERTURE, is one of my favorites from the Rocky II soundtrack:

How many people know that rocky railed against criminal politicians, bankers, and 'criminal foreign interests' controlling our country!!? freakin outstanding- the most underreported (non-reported) story of 2010. even i didnt know all the things he said until i went back to his twitter account and read it in its entirety. great stuff.
