WNEW News reports that Holmes was awarded a prestigious grant from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md. NIH is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It gave the graduate student a $26,000 stipend and paid his tuition for the highly competitive neuroscience program at the University of Colorado in Denver. From The Australian While authorities continued to refuse to discuss a possible motive for one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent US history, details about Holmes' background as a student and would-be scientist trickled out. He had recently withdrawn from the competitive graduate program in neuroscience at the University of Colorado Denver, where he was one of six pre-thesis Ph.D. students at its Neuroscience Program to be funded by a prestigious grant from the National Institutes of Health. The program of 35 students is dedicated to training outstanding neuroscientists and academicians who will make significant contributions to neurobiology, the university said in a statement.
It came out days ago, yet it got very little coverage. The Dark Knight shooter, James Holmes was collecting unemployment checks. It hasn’t been reported for how long he was collecting the checks, but it was reported he was looking for work for two years, over that time he could have collected unemployment not just for 6 months, but for a total of 18 months thanks to Obama and congress extending unemployment benefits for another 12 months. Depending how much he was receiving, if he got a conservative $400 a week, or $1,733 a month, the government would have given him a war chest of $20,800. That would explain how a broke college student may have had the money to amass potentially $10,000-$20,000 worth of guns, ammunition, armor, and bombs. The government may have literally financed his act of terrorism. Where is the outrage? All over TV they’re saying we need to ban guns as they enabled his attack, but where are the calls to ban welfare which enabled him to buy his guns? This is someone who truly did not “get there on his own,” he was paid by the government for not working, and the money he received went towards financing his mass murder. Maybe if he actually had to work for his money he wouldn’t have spent it all on killing people. This article first appeared on Information Liberation.com.
Whether he had an arsenal or not, and no matter if he collected unemployment, he wouldn't have done what he did if he was sane. SOMETHING pushed him over the edge, far beyond any shade of sanity most people possess. This guy was a 100% normal everyday genius prior to this, and prior to performing research at the University of Colorado Neuroscience Department. He even had access to secure facilities. No need to blame those who are out of work due to no fault of their own for this mess, there's plenty of blame going around, yet hardly any of it is being pointed at the right directions.

It's as least as likely that he is sane, but just an evil bastard. Insanity is not a prerequisite for committing horrendous crimes. Someone was sane enough to plan and organize this pretty well. IMO the big question is, how much help did he have from others? Evil,evil, evil... but not necessarily nuts.
