Sun Aug 5, 2012 12:51PM LAST UPDATE One Palestinian has been killed and another injured in an assassination drone strike carried out by the Israeli regime against the besieged Gaza Strip.
Medical sources and witnesses said the strike was carried out on the southern city of Rafah on Sunday.
The sources identified the victim as Eid Hijazi, a member of the Popular Resistance Committees.
A spokesman for the Israeli military confirmed the attack but did not provide further details.
The latest aggression by the Tel Aviv regime against Gaza comes several days after Israeli forces shot dead one Palestinian and injured two others at a checkpoint near East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on July 30.
Another Palestinian was killed and two others were wounded in an Israeli assassination drone strike on the eastern Gaza City on July 12.
The Tel Aviv regime conducts airstrikes and ground attacks against the Gaza Strip on an almost regular basis.
Over a dozen Palestinians were killed in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli regime on Gaza during the six-day period of June 18-23.
On June 13, US President Barack Obama awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Israeli President Shimon Peres, the 88-year-old criminal who has overseen the killing of Palestinian women and children by Israeli forces in the occupied territories for decades.
