In their latest "doodle" image, Google has portrayed a black man walking on a strip of watermelon. In sync with the Olympic Games, the google image above the search box features an athlete walking down a race track and getting ready to start a race. The track is obviously watermelon, with green rind, red pulp and dark seeds. Upon closer examination, there also appears to be marijuana plants lining the outside of the track every few feet. Although they do not include an actual Olympic logo, it's obvious that the image is timed to correspond to the 2012 Olympic games, currently taking place in London. When you click the 'play' button on the image, the man starts walking down the track and is portayed as thinking of an oddly white-gloved hand typing on a computer keyboard. As the athlete continues down the track he walks leisurely, not runs, knocking over all the hurdles instead of clearing them. After kicking over ten hurdles, and man reaches the end of the track and slumps over in exhaustion. Typical knee-jerk jerkiness: Not watermelon. The reddish track resembles the brick red running track that is actually being used in the London Olympics: news.plidd.com/jamican-ce...mpic-100m-final-jamaican- runner-still-the-fastest-in-the-world/ The green "rind" stretches out to show it is a grassy lawn. Nothing racist about this Google cartoon.
c'mon. its obviously watermelon. and a rabbi has written an oped condemning the racist watermelon track. maybe you can take it up with him.

by the way, i didnt say it was racist, i said it was a watermelon. actually i think its pretty funny. maybe next theyll feature a yarmulke wearing jock hurdling bagels!

I got 2 stars, 16.1 seconds. it's a game, but its still surely a watermelon. People such as google employees who claim it's absurd to say it resembles a watermelon are as inane as the people who defend the 9/11 fable.

if you cut a slice of watermelon then yes it can be flat. If you are a 1.5 inch tall cartoon charatcer and the ground is made of watermelon under your feet, than you can walk on it. someone should make an olympic athlete with a sombrero running down a soccer field made of a taco. that would be funny too. then all the people can deny that it's a taco.
