What specifically went through Dan Rather's mind
as he read up to that phrase? Did he not see it coming?
Was he pissed that someone didn't catch it beforehand?
Was he trained to blow smoke? What motivates a pro
to duck and cover like that? I am just curious.

when it comes to telling lies in the news biz
- a pro answered me quickly over one event "My wife will kill me if I lose this job."
- another time, this time over gulf oil spill, a pro told me, without hesitation, "This is what my boss told me to print and I'm printing it. Do your job or leave."

I oft wonder how much trouble Dan got in for saying it looked like a controlled demolition in his first reports on 9/11? I think it was him that did it.
