was in a truck with new co-worker about 2 hours today, small talk used up we somehow ended up on politics, his eyes grew wide when I started telling him things ... little stuff like dual citizens voting on use of our tax money, soldiers being abandoned after being used up in fake patriotic wars - rather than get angry like normal people, he asked more questions
I kept asserting, "It will take about 5 minutes with search engines to find out if I'm telling truth." response was more questions on how to use search engines
I never called him stupid once nor implied that he was, just explained how they keep us busy with bullshit to prevent him (citizens) from knowing such things... it felt rather satisfying when all was done ...
if he brings up topics again in morning, I plan to go into 911 a little - will be taking him to airport so it should fit well into convo

Does he know how to use a computer? Does he have a computer?
Most people do, but there are still some, mostly older people who don't. Maybe he didn't know Google was a search engine? Most people just call it googling, they don't refer to it as a search engine. Maybe that term is what threw him off.

in this case you are correct - at 63, he knew you can go and type into a box for driving directions and seeing a photo of his house from satellite, basic stuff - he had also figured out eBay and PayPal - I find this a lot with the kind of people I meet, they figure out the task they want done, but little else
now he knows that Yahoo and Google are search engines one can ask questions to about near anything ....
