"Tell the Jews" ... not really. They told the Netanyahu govt that the US would not back up an Israeli pre-emptive strike on Iran. "The Jews" are at least as much divided on this issue as Americans; within the multi-party Israeli govt a great many important officials have condemned the suggestion of attacking Iran and asserted that Iran is still a long way from being capable of a nuclear attack. What is far more likely is that Iran can be persuaded/intimidated into slowing down its nuclear development - indeed, it appears that Iran's project was already running into difficulties - with the full knowledge that an Iranian usage of such weapons, on Israel or another country, would get a shock and awe response from the US.
