This question has been raised a vast number of times since LBJ.

It misses the crucial reality of power at the top of the U.S.

The "Presidents" have long been front men for the vast military, secret police, government bureaucracies, big corps.....Reagan was the beginning of the obvious Actor-Lip-Synching-Presidents. [JFK and Nixon were probably eliminated by the CIA et al. because they insisted on pursuing Detente with the Soviets in reality, rather than as mere rhetoric for the Mass-Mediated Dunces. That enraged the CIA and other Brass. Ford went along. Carter was kind of out of it and irrelevant.] Since Reagan, all have been acting their parts, Clinton and Obama brilliantly, except Bush 1 who was the Director of the CIA and all the Secret Government in the White House. Iran-Contra was a tip of the iceberg of the Secret Coup In The White House, in that case obviously run by admirals and colonels under Bush 1.

Obama or Romney would probably love to become America's Augustus, maybe even the First American Hitler, but the decision is not theirs to make. [Gen. Petraeus, former head of the Black Ops in Iraq, was the head of ground forces in Afpak when he and his top staff men told Rolling Stone the truth about how ignorant and absurd Obama was – and is – about foreign affairs and the military and almost everything else – and laughed it up. The constitutional bottle demanded that he be "sent to the woodshed" for insubordination by stepping down and going into Media Seclusion for a while. Do you know where he is now? Living in the glory and secret power, very quietly, as The Director of the CIA. I suspect he is our Augustus, a very quiet dictator among quasi-equals at the top of a vast Secret Government.

The party still needs Americans to believe that the old bottle of the Constitution – the external forms – they have preserved are the reality, that America is still a land of the free and a democracy in which the people can choose who is president, even if they only get a choice of alpha and beta, a black republicrat or a white republicrat.

The party will not break the old constitutional forms – the bottle now filled with the new wine of totalitarian tyranny, as seen blatantly in the fed – until the coming implosion frightens the masses into submission to martial law. In the grip of terror over the chaos and dread of starvation, the masses will go beyond their present "President" Worship and embrace a Savior Dictator, as the Russians, Italians, Germans, Chinese and so many other terrified people have done before in this Modernist Age of Chaos, Implosions and Dread caused by cutting away the roots of human nature and ancient cultural traditions and replacing them with bureaucratic central plans for paper money, the economy, health and everything else.

The US has been run by the CIA since the coup that murdered Kennedy. It's hard for me to believe that any high level FEDERAL official (including Ron Paul) doesn't know it.

Dude gets it.

That may well be true.

They are the muscle. Dirty tricks operatives.

It would be interesting to know who holds their leash from the backroom.

Any president worth his salt would disband the agency. Wont happen of course.

They went from an intelligence gathering agency to an "activist" role in world affairs. It should be disbanded and not one of their employees be taken into any federal job.

I believe bush Senior was director of the CIA in the 70s.....

it would be John McCone who was in charge of the CIA in 63...

Many years ago, I had two friends that did "professional contract" work for CIA storefront people.

That was when they were indeed an "intelligence agency".

Kennedy is said to have threatened the dismantling of the CIA.

Years later at the dedication of the new CIA Headquarters (The George Herbert Walker Bush Building) future CIA Director, George Tenet, thanked George for his service to the country etc. and how proud the people at CIA were to have it named for him.

It seems odd to me that Bush would have the CIA Headquarters Building named for him after serving as DCI for only one year.

I think he was involved in Kennedy's murder and the cover up.

This is an interesting ten minute read, of what the CIA USE TO BE.

IN 1952, while flying out of Guam, we were warned repeatedly, YOU MUST REMAIN ABOVE 12,000 at all times if transiting Saipan. Landing there is forbidden except in dire emergencies.

Below 12,000, you may well be shot down by US people.

Read this if you have time, to see what we DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME.

Huge sarcasm, I hope.

If that should (hopefully) happen, it would have to be a revolt of the Colonels.

I think that Obummer will go quietly.....along with some of the White House dining silver and numerous historical artifacts stuffed into their luggage. Bill Clinton set that precedent and I expect the Obummer clan to loot the place as their kind are accustomed to doing.

I should have added .... unless there are some other events or activities the public isn't aware of that Mr. Bush participated in.

The only person in the world that 'can't recall' where he was on 11.22.1963.

Richard Nixon, who was to become President, couldn't recall his whereabouts either. Of course, he's not in this world anymore.

Isn't it odd that both Nixon and Bush were involved in the anti-Castro projects being run out of Florida (Nixon as Eisenhower's VP) when Bush had an oil company operation offshore, Zapata Oil Company ?

When Nixon became President he took George Bush and E.Howard Hunt with him to D.C. where they all played a part in "Watergate" ... boys will be boys !

Plus that FBI memo that says "Mr. George Bush of the CIA" phoned in that he heard a college student make threats against the President on that day. Must have been lots of George Bushes in the CIA at that time.

Thanks much for the link. I read about the meddling up to 1960.

No wonder JFK wanted to scatter them to the four winds.

Sir Lod...

Back in the early 1950s, when NSA and CIA were still in the intelligence gathering business, I was astounded at the information they supplied us with.

At briefings, one could say, we estimate or we think, but most times they would use the term, "there are" and give us a number.

At the time Saipan was under Navy jurisdiction, CIA was never mentioned, so we often would jest we ought drop a couple of 500 pounders on the dumb swabs to wake them up.

They were inserting "assets" into all of the Asian countries including Russia plus over flying all of them.

Sir Lod...

More truth than poetry.

Few people realize or are aware that JFK talked to Ike regularly after Ike left office.

The Cuban proposal came up and was presented to Ike, it was authorized only for planning purposes, which is normal.

The inner "military" which we do not know, knew full well they could not BS Ike, Kennedy was young and inexperienced, they tried to force him and intimidate him.

The day he turned the Joint chiefs down on invasion, they were nasty to JFK and I would have fired every damned one of them. LeMay was the worst. The minutes are available on the internet someplace.

I always accepted that Ike had WARNED JFK OFF.
