I've heard that it sucks for desktops and laptops and that its geared more for tablets. Also, from my understanding it doesn't work with a mouse so you have to have a touchscreen monitor. Also, from my understanding there are a ton of older programs that do not work with it.

I'll not be going anywhere near it, but I'm the furthest thing from a computer geek there is so what do I know.

TooConservative would probably know a lot about it but he seems to have quick posting here since he gave up his small government beliefs.

I WITHDRAW MY CONSENT!
Any perceived compliance with unconstitutional “laws” or orders put forth by government employees is NOT recognition of their authority; it is simply the result of carefully calculated submission to an entity exhibiting superior firepower.

Thanks - I think that I'll pass.

I can't imagine trying to reach three feet to touch the monitor...or much else for that matter.

The one thing that I can confidently recommend is that you not invest in Windows8 until it's been out for a full twelve months. By that time its various bugs have manifested and been remedied, books will be out based on solid experience with the system, as well as software geared to that system.

If you buy a Windows8 right now, you'll have the privilege of finding all those bugs yourself, most of them before anyone has posted a cure. Unless you like that sort of challenge, stick with XP or Windows7 a bit longer.

if you still have XP, i'd stay with it. i have one laptop that is XP and i can still use OE for email on it and, this one, which has Windows Pro 7(OE doesn't work with 7, so i still much prefer XP.
