British executive for ExxonMobil, the worlds largest oil company, Nicholas Mockford has been shot dead in front of his wife outside a restaurant in Brussels, Belgium.
Mockford, 60, was shot three times as he left an Italian restaurant in suburb of the Belgian capital at around 10 pm on October 15th.His wife was also left beaten and covered in blood, shouting for help.
Reports said Mockford died on the way to hospital. Moreover, two men carrying a motorcycle helmet were seen running away after the attack happened, according to the reports.
The killing took place on October 14 but Belgian investigators have only revealed the information about his death now, in accordance with Belgian investigative protocol.
The Belgian prosecutor's office said there was a "judicial instruction" from Martine Quintin, the investigating judge, which meant no "explanation" and no detail about the killing can be revealed.
"This is usual in such a serious murder investigation", The Telegraph quoted a spokesperson as saying.
Chief Inspector Wim Van Leifferenge, however, said the incident had been reported by media in the country since it happened.
