Ron Paul will be a certified write-in candidate for president in California. Official write-in status means Ron Paul's write-in votes will be counted just as if he were on the ballot in that state. Paul supporters have met the requirements put forth by the California Secretary of State.

The write-in ticket also includes Judge Andrew Napolitano for vice president.

Paul supporters argue that the winner of Tuesday's presidential election is certain to be one of two candidates who both support the indefinite military detention of US citizens (NDAA,) sanctions and possible strikes on Iran, the continuing bail-outs of major banks which could wind up costing US taxpayers as much as $23 trillion, and the continued accumulation of massive US debt. Paul forces criticize both major parties for their lack of any meaningful efforts to reign in US adventurism abroad, and Pentagon spending.

Therefore, Paul supporters say, the strongest message can be sent by a strong write-in vote for Ron Paul, who has steadfastly opposed all of these. Paul has said:

"Even if we were to slash our military budget in half, America easily would remain the world’s dominant military power."

Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) Revealing That Obama Pushed for NDAA

Any impact on California's 55 electoral votes, the the highest number of all the states, is sure to draw attention. The vote is meant to indicate that voters do not unanimously accept the choice of the two major party candidates. Many Paul supporters also have kind words for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who, although she represents very different politics, has earned the respect of many Paul supporters as a result of her strong commitment to opening the debates, and her consistent anti-war, pro-Constitution positions. Stein, a medical doctor, was recently arrested at Hofstrau University in her attempt to be included in the debates, and held handcuffed to a chair for eight hours by police.

The Ron Paul write-in campaign is also placing a strong focus on the states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Maine, and Wisconsin as other states where write-in votes are counted and reported out by elections officials. Supporters contend that the primary season was rife with corruption in these states and others, and that the extent of Paul's true support was hidden and suppressed. Jared Glenn in LewRockwell.com writes in "How the GOP Establishment Stole the Nomination From Ron Paul":

Days before the [Iowa] caucuses, Paul held a commanding lead in the polls and all the momentum, with every other candidate having peaked from favorable media coverage and then collapsed under the ensuing scrutiny....For the first time ever, the Iowa GOP changed the final vote count to a secret location . After the caucus, results from 8 precincts (including those with colleges, in a state where Paul won 48% of the youth vote) went missing.

During the GOP national convention a host of "dirty tricks" were employed against Paul and his delegates to keep him from being nominated, such as changing the number of states required for Paul to have won from five to eight, in order to qualify for nomination. The Las Vegas Sun and the New York Times reported that Paul had won six states in order to qualify. The Sun said:

Paul supporters, lead by Nevada delegate Wayne Terhune, succeeded in putting together petitions from six states to put Paul’s name up for nomination. But earlier this week, the Romney campaign won a critical rules change requiring eight states to put a candidate up for nomination. At the last moment, Paul supporters handed the petitions to the convention secretary. Then, the convention voted to adopt the eight-state rule, crushing the Paul effort.

And in some states during the primary season, Romney supporters and their hired security resorted to physical violence in order to keep Paul delegates from assuming newly-elected posts.

I am writing Ron Paul on my ballot in Georgia even thought they won't count it. There is no one else to vote for worth a damn for president and this may be my last chance to vote for Ron Paul in a presidential election and I am not going to miss it. I will take a photo of it and proudly show it off. :)

God is always good!

It is the electoral college electors that chuse the president. Not anyone of us here. Our votes are only for popularity polls.

I'm not throwing away my vote on a bushbot like Obongo, or Mittens. I'm voting for a pro-American candidate instead.

I can barely remember using a paper ballot to write on.

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken
