My Firefox Download Helper, or whatever the thing is called, wasn't working for me so I searched for another program or whatever to download them, something that wasn't too technical and would be easy enough even for me to understand. There is a bash script you can use (I guess, never tried it) but I did find a simple way. Here it is:

Here is a simple way also: Find the video you want to download...let's say this one here:http://youtube.com/watch?v=2BCoZiSbGtY

You don't need to watch it or anything...then in the address bar on top of ANY browser put kiss in front of the youtube...so the address will be http://kissyoutube.com/watch?v=2BCoZiSbGtY

That will take you to a page that will give you the preview of the video(like youtube) and a lot of links ...and one of them is Download Now (guess what it does )

Your mileage may vary but it worked like a charm for me (my computer is PCLinuxOS). I am assuming it should work on any Linux box and probably even on Windows but I don't know for sure since I don't use Windows.

um, yeah? I must have missed the point--is that not the same thing I posted?

I forgot to mention but the download went to my tmp (temporary) file/folder. I say that just in case someone tries it and then can't locate it and thinks that it didn't work.

I use REAL PLAYER. its free, very simple, & allows you to watch vids offline in your library. You can also convert them to MP3 and put them on a cd or mp3 player.

Do you use Linux or Windows? Real Player is not in the repository where I download stuff and upgrade what I already have.

i use windows. i dont know anything about linux, but real player is can be downloaded at real.com. i know nothing about computers & real player is as simple as it gets. just the way i like it. :-)

PCLinuxOS is very easy to use. Years ago, say ten or twelve years ago, only people who really knew what they were doing could use Linux. But there are so many different "flavors" (they call them distros for distributions) now that anyone can use Linux. Some are still very heavily "geek" or "nerd" but I am far from that. VLC media player is very good too and I do believe it will work on your windows computer.
