CISPA passed the house today. TODAY. It was rammed through today, and now the Senate will vote n it. When it passes, sites like this one will be compelled to hand over user info. If this had happened under Bush, the libs would be screaming, but here we are, dead silence on it. If the Senate passes it, I am done with the internet.

I've thought for a long time now that the "Latest Comments" should be closed to everyone except signed in members.
The Senate will pass it. Then, we will all be considered "enemies of the state" for expressing our 1st Amendment rights.

ive never even heard of "cispa" before your post.But i think it'd be a big mistake for you to quit the internet.They can already spy on everyone & already know who the "troublemakers"are.As was said above, fuck 'em. who cares what they think of our posts?

Tommy, we can live the rest of our lives in silence, or fight those who demand it. Since their lust for complete power will never be satisfied, I say we fight. I'm not suggesting you do the same, that's your choice, but by choosing to surrender your Constitutional right to free speech is to hand them a voluntary victory.

I've assumed for several years that "somebody" had the ability and $$$ to surf the internet all day long looking for dissent. Guess what: they see that they're outnumbered because there just aren't that many friends of Uncle Scam these days. The only way they have to ruin our day is to use the IRS or the TSA to give us trouble. Now, throw in some armed drones and that's a wildcard that changes everything.....

Hi Pinguinite. Been a long time since I communicated with you. I've been looking at the web in a different light. Are VPN's worth the money, and would creating new memberships to online forums after using a VPN be worth the trouble?

You are right about the libs' blind love for Bammy and His administration. But if you look specifically at the House's votes on CISPA, actually more GOP were pro CISPA than Dimwits. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said afterward on Twitter that CISPA "didn't strike the right balance" and Republicans "didn't allow amendments to strengthen privacy protections." I guess it depends on your personal needs/goals. I'd suggest as far as net privacy goes, probably the #1 thing one can do is encrypt your email using PGP/GPG encryption. That and don't use facebook, or if you do..... well, just don't. But email is normally openly readable to anyone, especially the US Gov, and it also contains a lot of private information. Only problem is the people you email need to be willing to go through the trouble of decrypting your emails. Ideally though, all net communication should be encrypted. Email, web sites, chats VOIP call, everything. As for VPN, I'll defer to what others here have to say about it. Never used one myself. Well, almost never. Hi Pinguinite.
