NBC's Bob Costas Goes On Gun Control Rant About NFL Player's Murder-Suicide

Bob Costas, discussing the murder-suicide of NFL's Jovan Belcher, went on a gun rant during halftime of NBC's Sunday Night Football. Transcript of his remarks below.

BOB COSTAS: Well, you knew it was coming. In the aftermath of the nearly unfathomable events in Kansas City, that most mindless of sports clichés was heard yet again: Something like this really puts it all in perspective. Well, if so, that sort of perspective has a very short shelf-life since we will inevitably hear about the perspective we have supposedly again regained the next time ugly reality intrudes upon our games. Please, those who need tragedies to continually recalibrate their sense of proportion about sports would seem to have little hope of ever truly achieving perspective. You want some actual perspective on this? Well, a bit of it comes from the Kansas City-based writer Jason Whitlock with whom I do not always agree, but who today said it so well that we may as well just quote or paraphrase from the end of his article.

"Our current gun culture,"Whitlock wrote, "ensures that more and more domestic disputes will end in the ultimate tragedy and that more convenience-store confrontations over loud music coming from a car will leave more teenage boys bloodied and dead."

"Handguns do not enhance our safety. They exacerbate our flaws, tempt us to escalate arguments, and bait us into embracing confrontation rather than avoiding it. In the coming days, Jovan Belcher’s actions, and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows?"

"But here," wrote Jason Whitlock," is what I believe. If Jovan Belcher didn’t possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

Really? Tell that to the kid in Colorado who recently shot his dad in the head with an arrow and killed his dad's girlfriend and himself with a knife.

I WITHDRAW MY CONSENT!
Any perceived compliance with unconstitutional “laws” or orders put forth by government employees is NOT recognition of their authority; it is simply the result of carefully calculated submission to an entity exhibiting superior firepower.

He was an excellent student. What!

From Wiki:
Belcher, who was a strong student in high school and college, graduated from Maine with a degree in child development and family relations.

Sadly, he slept thru the "Don't shoot your kids mother" chapter resulting in the loss of .15 points off his GPA.

Bob Costas Goes On Gun Control Rant

It's easy for these freaks to rant about gun control. Come and get them, Bob, if you dare. He will not. I'm sure he would rather the U.N. does his dirty work for him. That is what Obummer wants. ;)

Coming from NBC and the NFL, combined, I'm not surprised that Bob Costas was given a platform to spew his communist vomit. I'm glad I gave up football decades ago, my mind doesn't need the filth and trash that is part and parcel of that phony sport.

I watched the movie Braveheart again this weekend.

Good thing for the english that those Scotsmen didn't have any firearms.

I gave up football decades ago

I knew a kid that played High School football in Illinois. He was a linebacker. He sacked the QB three times. On the fourth time the QB was screaming, "NO!" ROTFLOL!
