FRONTLINE producer Michael Kirk unearths the hidden history of the nation's worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, explores the early warning signs, and asks: Who knew? And who ignored? "The Warning" airs Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 9PM 2009 on PBS (check local listings).
In the devastating aftermath of the economic meltdown, FRONTLINE sifts the ashes for clues about why it happened and examines critical moments when it might have gone much differently. Looking back into the 1990s, veteran FRONTLINE producer/director Michael Kirk ("Inside the Meltdown," "Breaking the Bank") discovers early warnings of the crash, reveals an intense battle among high-ranking members of the Clinton administration and uncovers a concerted effort not to regulate the emerging, highly complex and lucrative derivatives markets that would become the ticking time bomb within the American economy.
There were people warning of a crash, and derided as "kooks" by the lamestream media, by the late 90's. All of the indicators were in place long before it occurred. Frontline = Whitewash. I was following the monetary aggregates and in 2002 began warning people to get out of the dollar and into a better currency i.e., Swiss Francs, Euros, Gold, and British Pounds. The Franc was at 72 or 73 cents and topped out at over a dollar, the Euro was at about $1.11 and topped out at $1.42, and we have seen gold go from under $300 to nearly $2,000. There is no mystery here and the FED telegraphed that they knew it was coming planned in 2006 when they took M3 out of their publications. This is not Rocket Science. The indicators were very very clear.

When she was summoned to the working group the policy being discussed was fraud. If the three of us had a meeting and discussed, planned and executed the same coercion of a govt. official we would have been charged with any number of felony conspiracy charges. Yet these criminals continue to rollover their schemes into ever larger thefts with impunity without ANY consequences whatsoever. %&*#!
There is NO free market for price discovery since the implementation of the Working Group on Financial Markets. This participation by the govt. allows wall street to run free and unchecked.
