A Scandal Too Far: Steve Capus Terminated as NBC News President

Posted on | February 2, 2013 | 6 Comments and 0 Reactions

The New York Times spins it this way:

The longest-serving president of any of the three network news divisions, Steve Capus of NBC News, stepped down from his position on Friday, six months after Comcast restructured its news units in a way that diminished his authority.

Exactly how voluntary was this “stepping down”? John Nolte points to the scandal-plagued tenure of Capus at NBC News:

  1. During last year’s presidential election, Andrea Mitchell was caught manufacturing a Romney gaffe where none existed.
  2. During last year’s GOP primary, Ed Schultz edited video of Texas Governor Rick Perry to make him look racist.
  3. In April of last year, the “Today Show” was caught editing audio of a 9-1-1 call to make George Zimmerman look racist.
  4. In August of 2009, Contessa Brewer sliced and diced a photograph so it wouldn’t look like a black man attended a Tea Party carrying a firearm.
  5. Just this week, NBC News maliciously edited video of a town council meeting to make it look as though Second Amendment civil rights activists heckled a parent who lost his son in Newtown.

The network should place an ad on Craigslist: “NBC News is now hiring a Democrat News Executive. Ethics and objectivity optional.”

No, actually what the ad should say is that ethics and objectivity would be automatic disqualifiers.

"It is the habit of unhappiness to rewrite our lives and from a different beginning come to a different ending. We cling to the past and what it could have been; what we wanted, or thought we wanted, before we were taught by a broken heart that our own good intentions have little effect on the way things are."

agreed. the ends justify the means with the left.

A study group recently released its findings as to the best presidents of the United States of America.

Obama has been rated as the 4th best president ever:

Reagan and 9 others tied for first, 15 presidents tied for second, 18 tied for third, and Obama came in fourth.

5. Just this week, NBC News maliciously edited video of a town council meeting to make it look as though Second Amendment civil rights activists heckled a parent who lost his son in Newtown.

From the above link:

And just today, NBC was caught in yet another malicious edit, this time to make Second Amendment advocates look as though they did something as heinous as heckling the heartsick father of a child who lost his six-year-old son in the Sandy Hook massacre. You can watch the full video and NBC's science fiction adaptation side-by-side here.

From that link:

Tuesday morning, many in the media went all in with a sanctimonious attack against gun-rights supporters, whom they accused of heckling Neil Heslin, the [My note: alleged] parent of a six-year-old boy murdered in the Sandy Hook massacre. The only problem is that it was all a lie. Mr. Heslin was not heckled.

If you look at the full, unedited tape (which was first obtained by Twitchy), you'll see that after 15 minutes of the audience remaining respectfully silent as Mr. Heslin spoke out against assault weapons, he then turns to ask the audience a direct question:

I ask if there’s anybody in this room that can give me one reason or challenge this question … why anybody in this room needs to have one of these assault-style weapons or military weapons or high-capacity clips.

Mr. Heslin then pauses waiting for someone in the audience to answer. His question is respectfully asked but no one says a word.

Then Mr. Heslin says:

Not one person can answer that question.

And it's only then that a few people do answer the question, and do so respectfully.

[sic]

So who are those spreading this libel? Twitchy has listed all the usual suspects….

The official Twitter accounts of The Daily Beast, Slate, The Huffington Post, MSNBC, Gawker, along wth Andrew Kaczynski of BuzzFeed Politics, CNN's Piers Morgan, David Frum of the Daily Beast, Eric Boehlert of Media Matters, Michael Skolnik of the Global Grind, Democrat Congressman Jim Himes, Talking Point Memo's Josh Marshall, and Vanity Fair's Kurt Eichenwald.

Neil Heslin on the Sandy Hook Shooting

Published on Dec 20, 2012 by CNN

Neil Heslin, [My note: alleged] father of Jesse Lewis who was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown CT talks to CNN's Piers Morgan.

Media Falsely Claims Gun Activists Heckled Father of Murdered Newtown Boy

This is how MSNBC crafted heckling where none occurred:

YouTube at the article: Untitled - 17.5 min. long version of the townhall meeting with Heslin.

A strange sounding siren goes off at 3:50 and an announcement is made to evacuate the building because of a fire reported in the building. The meeting reconvenes at the 4:27 mark. At 9:02 he says something about a plan to go back and make gingerbread houses that day. Says at 10:24 that we don't need these weapons in our homes. At 12:34-12:53 he says that 10 students survived from Miss Soto's class. At 13:45 says again that we don't need to defend our homes with weapons like that. At 15:04 he asks if anybody in the room can give him one reason or challenge the question why anyody in the room needs to have assault style weapons or military weapons or high capacity clips. He waits and looks, the audience is quiet, then he says that not one person can answer that question. At that point, some answers are respectfully given about our rights and the 2nd Amendment not being infringed. He says that he respects their opinions and thoughts. Doesn't say he respects those rights or the Constitution. At 17:07 he asks for a ban.
