Former pilot and 9/11 conspiracy theorist shoots and kills 2 teen children, then himself

Xeni Jardin at 6:41 pm Mon, Feb 4

Slaying victims Alex and Macaila Marshall with their father, Phillip Marshall.

Phillip (alternately, "Philip") Marshall, 54, a career airline pilot who claimed to have once served as a contract pilot for the CIA and DEA during the Iran-Contra affair, shot and killed his two teenage children, and the family dog, then killed himself.

The apparent murder-suicide was discovered at the family home in an upscale gated golfing community in Murphys, California.

According to local news reports, teen friends of Alex Marshall, 17 (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), and Macaila Marshall (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), 14, noticed the siblings had not been active via text or social media updates since Thursday and went by the house on Saturday to check on them.

The last posts made by either child to Instagram and Facebook were dated Thursday night.

The friends told police that when they arrived, they found Phillip Marshall, 54, "lying in a pool of blood inside the home," his 9mm Glock nearby.

Deputies believe the children were shot while sleeping on a couch.

The family dog was found shot to death in a nearby bedroom.

Marshall's estranged wife Sean, the children's mother, was out of the country at the time.

Phillip Marshall has been identified as a former pilot for Eastern and United airlines. He self-published a number of books, including at least two about his 9/11 conspiracy theories: "The Big Bamboozle" (February 9, 2012) and "False Flag 911: How Bush, Cheney and the Saudis Created the Post-911 World" (July 29, 2008).

A previous novel published in 2003, "Lakefront Airport, New Orleans," detailed his claimed experience as a pilot for the US during Iran/Contra.

In his books and his social media bios (including multiple Facebook accounts, his Twitter account and a Tumblr), he claims to have served as a contract pilot for the CIA's Special Activities Division during the Iran-Contra affair, flying shipments to and from Nicaragua.

He appeared on "outsider truth" shows like Coast to Coast to promote the theories in his books that 9/11 was an "inside job," the result of a plot between the US government and the Saudis.

From his author bio on Createspace.com, Amazon.com's self-publishing service:

Philip Marshall, a veteran airline captain and former government "special activities" contract pilot, has authored three books on Top Secret America, a group presently conducting business as the United States Intelligence Community.

Beginning with his role in the 1980s as a Learjet captain first as part of a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) sting on Pablo Escobar, and later in the covert arming of the Nicaraguan Contras, Marshall has studied and written 30-years worth of covert government special activities and the revolving door of Wall Street tricksters, media moguls, and their well funded politicians.

I am unable to confirm the veracity of the claims in his self-authored bio at this time.

A Facebook page for "The Big Bamboozle" showed posts as recent as January 31 with titles like, "WHAT IS THE INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY HIDING?," "THE ARAB WORLD KNOWS THE RAID WAS A HOAX," and posts about the Bin Laden assassination having been faked.

"PICTURES PAINT A THOUSAND WORDS," read one such Facebook post from Marshall about photographs of the assassinated Al Qaeda leader. "Since bin Laden died in 2001, these would be "alleged" photos of bin Laden. Give us a break."

He once also pitched those theories to a television news journalist with whom this blogger is acquainted.

A young friend of the two slain teens with whom this blogger is personally acquainted described them as "sweet, funny, lively, good kids."

A tweet from Macaila on January 25:

Would it be wrong if I threw my cat with his claws retracted at my dads face right now?... #pissoff— Macaila Marshall (@MacailaMarshall) January 25, 2013

Photos from the siblings' Instagram feeds suggest that they were outgoing, well-liked by friends, and loved one another very much. In one, Macaila is in the hospital after a "golf cart accident," with her father sitting in the background.

In the last self-portrait she posted on January 28, her brother blows a hair dryer at her while she goofs in the mirror.

"I pretty much just wanted to say how great of a big brother you are," Macaila writes to her brother in another Instagram caption, "I love you so much!"

A family photo Instagrammed by Alex shows the boy at a much younger age.

In it, he is helping his father mow the lawn with a toy lawnmower.

I'm watching Fox New Channel right now where the news in relaying bits and pieces on this story about a manhunt for this former LAPD who suddenly just snapped. More on this later but I don't have a clue what the hell is going on. New conference developing as I write this. Waiting for LAPD Chief of Police to speak.

He did not post about killer cops and their crazy manifestos.

He did not post about anything you are attempting to distract us with. IF you are not going to post something relevant to the topic at hand do us all the favor your mommy should of taught as a child and just remain silent instead.

Oh stop that and just admit that you were incorrect.

You aren't saving any face by insisting your right in spite of the evidence in front of all our screens.

a. I am correct.

b. You and most other 4um posters do not live in CA. You are clueless about this state's "unique" ( ie crazy) real estate market. Even after the real estate down turn, CA's housing prices are comparatively high to other states.

Maybe in your state a home valued at $300,000 - $500,000 is considered upscale and luxurious. That is not the case in CA. It's all about location, location, location.

That is not the case in CA. It's all about location, location, location.

Very true but zipcodes takes priority. When I was sitting in a Finance class many years ago, a classmate of mine who worked in the banking industry stated that location is not so much the issue as zipcodes are because zipcodes play a crucial role for loan officers when making determinations on redlining certain areas. Redlining focuses not so much on ethnicity but on income. Areas that are redlined refer to income levels less than $75K per year. These are the poverty-lined areas to which loan officers are cautious about when granting loans.

I wonder what he found. What happened? Was their a sandy hook flaw so obvious and bad? I can not believe it could be anything 911 related. Too much time has passed for public relevancy. Sandy hook is still fresh and so full of flaws I don't understand why people buy this Malarky....

It maybe that he found nothing special at all but rather the government just had it out for one of their own that crossed the line.

Sigh.....

Their is a lesson here.

Web cams are cheap and easy to install and if phill here had some we would have his assailants on camera. Then again being ex CIA and Ex DEA./.. he may of had his home already wired..

I lived in San Diego for 20 years and could have lived anywhere I wanted to live. I wouldn't want to live on the coast because it's cloudy and wet all of the time. I lived inland (Ramona, Ca., AKA Valley of the Sun) because it was sunny most days from early morning until dark. At night the sky was clear and the stars were very bright.

I wouldn't live on the coast if it were less expensive.

We should all be livid. Stop acting like docile, mentally castrated pussies and grow a pair. It's time to get in their face. Why should we speak in hushed tones and act all polite when we are being raped every day?

That (Spiro) story is from quite awhile ago.

Lots of suspect statements and details there.

This recent "murder-suicide" is similar but less confusing as far as the dad is concerned. In this latest case the dad is a baseball coach and pretty easy going. He has admitted his association with Iran/Contra, the CIA and etc., as a pilot and in addition he worked for two major airlines.

I listened to the whole 2.5 hours of the video you posted and he seemed quite a bit in-step with the official spin of hijackers and a plane strike at the Pentagon, despite asserting that an experienced pilot like himself probably couldn't have hit it so luckily.

While cruising through articles I ran across one that happened to mention the string of murders that cause one to ask if they are related. Chris Kyle, the sniper (did he also do jobs for the CIA, in other countries that were drug war related), and there were a couple of more mentioned that I am unable to relocate. One was a guy that was a popular gun enthusiast or gun store owner, another was Aaron Schwartz ...

Yes and the gun enthusiast was Keith Ratliff; reportedly a business partner at FPSRussia and producer of their YouTube channel.

It's just not likely that this guy (who was recently on Coast to Coast with John Wells and considered cogent and rational) murdered his two children, their dog and himself. I also think it's weird that the articles claim the kids were asleep "on the couch" and each person was shot once in the head.

I think that's weird too. This article addresses claims made about him that might have been bogus and vengeance driven. Doesn't say he was convicted of any charges:

Sacto 9-1-1 Father in Murphys murder-suicide had previous arrest for battery

The mother of the two children, Sean Marshall, was out of the country.

In November 2008, Phillip Marshall filed a crime report against his estranged wife for burglary. In December 2008, Sean Marshall and her sister, Erin Chamberlain, filed a complaint with the Sheriff's Office against Phillip Marshall for battery.

According to reports, sheriff's officials said, Phillip Marshall became involved in an argument with Chamberlain outside Sean Marshall's residence in Murphys. The argument reportedly stemmed from Phillip Marshall wanting to see his daughter, Macaila. During the argument, Phillip Marshall allegedly slapped Chamberlain in the face.

He was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County jail on suspicion of battery, disturbing the peace, and making annoying or harassing phone calls.

Alex and Macaila Marshall were students at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp.

His book (The Big Bamboozle) exposes the use of Blackwater, Pinal AirPark, (a known CIA operation from the Vietnam era) and large commercial Aircraft registered to some Saudi Prince for training in the Desert, among many other things.

At 1:01:23 and approx. 1:22:00 of the Coast to Coast video that noone222 posted, Philip Marshall talks about Prince Bandar Bush and funding by him through Riggs Bank. He mentions too that Bandar Bush is/was from the same hometown as alleged Flt. 77 hijacker-pilot on 9/11, Hani Hanjour.

Like Philip Marshall, Bandar Bush was involved in Iran Contra. There was some discussion here about him months ago because he is/was suspected to have been assissinated; also about his nickname being Bandar Bush because of his close ties with the Bush family. [Ref. 4um Title: Bandar Bush Dead? - Total Media Blockade

Bandar bin Sultan - Wikipedia

Bandar bin Sultan (born 2 March 1949) is a member of the House of Saud and was Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States from 1983 to 2005. In 2005, he was named as Secretary General of the National Security Council [Saudi Arabia's]. He was appointed Director General of the Saudi Intelligence Agency by King Abdullah on 19 July 2012.

During the Reagan presidency, he secured the purchase of AWACs surveillance aircraft despite opposition from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. [7] After the United States rejected an arms order, he arranged the delivery of intermediate-range nuclear-warhead-capable missiles from China.[7] This angered the Central Intelligence Agency and the United States Department of State.[7]

He was exposed for his involvement in the Iran-Contra scandal. He had arranged $32 million in Saudi financing for the Nicaraguan Contras.[3]

Bandar bin Sultan returned to Saudi Arabia weeks prior to the death of King Fahd, upon which Bandar's father, Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz, became the nation's Crown Prince. It was rumored that Bandar's return was timed in order to secure a position in the new government.[14] He was succeeded as ambassador by Turki al Faisal.

despite asserting that an experienced pilot like himself probably couldn't have hit it so luckily.

That was a very interesting part of the interview. But he claims the pilots were trained at a CIA airbase in AZ.

This was interesting as well, considering what happened--

@1:44:28 "...you really don't have any security when you have so many people that have access to your personal whereabouts..."

and @2:15:42

"...and then we have to push together and I'm going to dedicate-you know- maybe the next 5 years, 10 years, whatever..."

Doesn't sound like someone that would shoot himself and his kids a year later, but of course lots can happen in a year. I'm guessing if he actually did shoot himself and his kids and dog, he was on SSRI antidepressants, which have been documented to cause *exactly* that kind of behavior.

This reminds me of William Cooper and how he died in Nov of 2001 by those who ambushed him at gunpoint and shot him dead. It was also a hit by the upper echelons who wanted him dead too for his controversial book, "Behold a Pale Horse" where he was exposing everything from mind control to chemtrails.

When I first read anything from William Cooper he claimed that he worked for Naval Intelligence during the Vietnam war and had viewed documents proving alien encounters with government officials.

He referred to the Majestic-12 documents as Majesty-12, not Majestic. It was still MJ-12 though. He went on in later years to other versions of what he had done in Naval Intelligence.

In the beginning though he claimed that we had bases on the Moon and on Mars. I don't know which parts of his stories were true, or had some amount of truth.

Till the "boys in blue" or whatever other color they choose to wear while claiming to "enforce the law" decide to grow a pair and go after the real bad guys, instead of busting teenagers for tobacco possession and shooting up their houses and killing their pets just because they were scared for their lives, I see them mostly as vermin.

Hell, did you see what the brave boys over in LA did recently? They shot up two cars that simply LOOKED like that guy's car, the guy who killed a couple of cops the other day.

Two innocent people were injured, one seriously. And they want to take OUR guns away?

Thanks for your reply. He said something in the video about bin Laden being depicted as both tall and shorter. Depending on what article was being referenced, so was Ahmad Shah Massoud, aka the Lion of Panjshir, said to have been assassinated on 9-9-2001. If his name was spelled one way in a websearch, he was decribed as unusually tall. Spelled another way, he was described as short.

This so-called uber successful pilot - if he was all that he said he was - would be living in a coastal town in CA.

That's the way it is in CA.

Ocean and proximity to ocean is everything.

While America has been preoccupied with the latest "gun show" (Dorner) in Commie gun-grabber Feinstein's state of California:

Map pic at Kirwan article: Questioning America Without Constitutional-Law [Excerpts]

Yesterday it was announced that the U.S. Constitution now STOPS one- hundred miles from every border this nation had. This creates an illegal buffer zone

Americans now face the same kind of fascistically lawless conditions, a full one-hundred miles BEFORE Americans can even get to a U.S. Border. This effectively reduces the size of the country and intensifies a new war-zone in this 100-mile-wide zone.

The new LAWLESS American cities are NO LONGER AMERICAN CITIES. What this change means has not yet dawned on the public.

This was designed to give these traitors a protected-zone to supposedly bring in troops (UN-NATO or otherwise), to do what they cannot do without this CRIMINALLY-ENFORCED-TREASON. This way they can have full control of all the ports and all the major cities near what used to be the borders of the United States.

The United States Constitutional Free-Zone

The major cities impacted by this new ruling include everyone in the following cities:

Anchorage, Juno, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, Salem, Eugene Medford, Eureka, Redding, Sacramento, Stockton, San Francisco, San Jose, Salinas, Fresno, Bakersfield, Oxnard, Los Angeles, Long Beach,

(Except for the Port of Long Beach that belongs to Red China)*

Riverside, Oceanside, San Diego, Honolulu, Hilo, Yuma, Tucson, Serra Vista, Los Cruces, El Paso, Alpine, Del Rio, Laredo, San Antonia, McAllen, Brownsville, Corpus Christi, Victoria, Houston, Beaumont, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Mobil, Duluth, Tallahassee, Tampa, St. Petersburg, Cape Coral, Miami,

Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Palm Bay, Orlando, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Valdosta, Savannah, Augusta, Charleston, Columbia, Wilmington, Fayetteville, Raleigh, Greenville, Virginia Beach, Lynchburg, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Richmond, Washington D.C. Dover, Baltimore, Philadelphia,

New York, Allentown, Bridgeport, Hartford, Providence, Boston, Manchester, Portland, Bangor, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, Erie, Cleveland, Akron, Pittsburg, Columbus, Toledo, Detroit, Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Fort Wayne, Chicago, Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Green Bay, Marquette, Duluth, Grand Forks, Minot, Glasgow, Havre, Shelby, Spokane.

So what’s this all about?

“According to this breaking story from Wired, the Department of Homeland Security's 'Watchdog' has given the OK for the 'suspicionless' seizure of electronic devices along the borders of America. According to the map above from the ACLU, this includes a 100 mile perimeter along the entire border of the United States of America. First, read this from Wired then take a look at the ACLU map.

This bit of speculation hasn't been posted yet and it's quite interesting:

Phillip Marshall Wrote About a Conspiracy; Was He the Victim of One?

http://www.santabarbaraview.com/phillip-marshall-wrote-about-a-conspiracy-was-he-victim-of-one4254252/

Former airline pilot Phillip (alternately, “Philip”) Marshall spent a great deal of time around Santa Barbara last year preparing for the release of his controversial 9/11 conspiracy book “The Big Bamboozle: 9/11 and the War on Terror.”

During the editing and pre-marketing process of Marshall’s book, he expressed some degree of paranoia because the nonfiction work accused the George W. Bush administration of being in cahoots with the Saudi intelligence community in training the hijackers who died in the planes used in the attacks.

“Think about this,” Marshall said last year in a written statement, “The official version about some ghost (Osama bin Laden) in some cave on the other side of the world defeating our entire military establishment on U.S. soil is absolutely preposterous.”

Marshall went on to say: “The true reason the attack was successful is because of an inside military stand-down and a coordinated training operation that prepared the hijackers to fly heavy commercial airliners. We have dozens of FBI documents to prove that this flight training was conducted California, Florida and Arizona in the 18 months leading up to the attack.”

The veteran pilot confided that he was concerned about his 10-year, independent 9/11 study and most recent book since they pointed to the Saudis and the Bush intelligence community as the executioners of the attack that defeated all U.S. military defenses on Sept. 11, 2001. Marshall said he knew his book might cause some people to take issue with him...

"...“After an exhaustive 10-year study of this lethal attack that used Boeing airliners filled with passengers and fellow crew members as guided missiles, I am 100 percent convinced that a covert team of Saudi intelligence agents was the source of logistical, financial and tactical resources that directed essential flight training to the 9/11 hijackers for 18 months before the attack,” Marshall wrote. “This conclusion was determined six years ago and all subsequent evidence has only served to confirm this conclusion.”

On March 1, two former U.S. senators, who headed separate 9/11 federal investigations, also raised the possibility of Saudi involvement in the attacks that killed 3,000 people and spurred the global War on Terror. In sworn statements that seem likely to reignite the debate, former senators Bob Graham and Bob Kerrey, who saw top-secret information on the Saudis’ activities, said they believe that the Saudi government played a direct role in the terrorist attacks.

“I am convinced that there was a direct line between at least some of the terrorists who carried out the Sept. 11 attacks and the government of Saudi Arabia,” former Senator Bob Graham said in an affidavit filed as part of a lawsuit brought against the Saudi government and dozens of institutions in the country by families of 9/11 victims and others. Graham headed a 2002 joint congressional inquiry into the attacks and has claimed he was muzzled into silence about his committee’s findings in 2002 by former Vice President Dick Cheney and other top members of the Bush intelligence community....

Phil's Friend February 7, 2013 at 2:24 pm #

I was a lifelong friend of Mr. Marshall, we went to High School together in Mandeville La. We have been in contact over the years and he is the last person to commit suicide much less kill the children he adored. Right now it is being spun that he was despondent over his divorce or money problems even bringing up the altercation he had with his wife’s sister to show he was somehow unbalanced.. He was separated from his wife for years and if I am correct his divorce was finalized. He never wore a wedding ring and dated other women.

His exwife lived in Murphys away from the subdivision he lived in. They found his wedding ring sitting on top of the bullets for the glock making it look like he took it off before he shot his kids and himself. To me this is the tell. This is obviously a hit. Also he was on medical disability from United and was not hurting for money. I was last with him in late December to watch a Saints game with him at my home and he was great. He was telling me that I would not believe what would be in his next book concerning 9/11. I guess he was right. The fool that killed this man and his kids obviously did not know him very well.

Watch your back, Phil’s friend, if you know too much. If you feel safe doing so, I’d personally appreciate hearing info not spun by the mainstream media on this story, because it obviously doesn’t add up…why shoot the dog? That is the biggest clincher for me. The only reason for the shooter to shoot the dog would be if the shooter was not familiar with the dog, which screams of a hit…

Before this tragedy happened I was also one of those who followed the principle of “Occams Razor” in that the simplest explanation is the most accurate. At face value this looks like a murder-suicide. However those that really knew this man know that there is more to this story. He had been separated from his wife for several years and he was trying to help her get a import business going which is why she was out of touch in Turkey. She was using his flight privleges as a United pilot to fly to Turkey at litlle or no cost. He had been supporting herduring this separation period and saw this as a way for her to get on her feet be independent so he would not have to continually support her.

Before their marriage she was a skilled buyer for Nordstrom and he was encouraging her to use this skill. Also I noticed in one of the comments that “the final control over the wife he lost control over”. Again anyone that knew this man would know that the very last thing he cared was having control over people. He was a loving parent that was guiding his kids never controlling. He was an accomplished pilot who was joe cool the one you want flying your plane because he would not get excited in emergency situations.

As for the ring on the bullets that I mentioned above this was told to Phil’s family by the sheriffs office. To them it looks like murder suicide. I unfortunately had to tell my young daughter about this and it was very sad. When I told her about the ring on the bullets even she realized that he never wore his ring. She last saw Phil with his wife when she was about 3 or 4 she is now 11.

Because of human nature being what it is I do not believe this will be further investigated. Also I will not be making any motions for a investigation of this also. I believe he was killed and maybe it was for the 9/11 research he was doing. I am not willing to put my family or myself in harms way. Sorry but I also will not be contacting anyone online about this for the same reason.

I could go on and on about why he did not do this. In the end I have lost a lifelong friend who was a really great guy. Unfortunately people will not know this. I will miss him.

I’m sorry for your loss Phil’s friend. I think not meeting anyone or contacting anyone or emailing anyone even ‘securely’ is a very smart decision on your part!!! Being Phil’s friend someone may be threatened by you or your knowledge about Phil or about you going to the Media and talking about Phil, about stuff and all what you know about his family. For that reason you may also end up on an ‘accident’ or ‘murder suicide’ with your whole family.

Personally, I’d never discuss Phil with anyone anywhere, period! But especially strangers and when I hear a talk about Phil, I’d just listen from afar without contributing. If I were you, I would not introduce myself to anyone as Phil’s friend or let anyone know about me because you really don’t know who is who. I’ll not be surprised if the Coroner who will perform their autopsy ends up dead with a sudden illness, car accident or suicide. I’d be careful about talking too much online too, Especially one on one or on ‘private/secure’ emails, beware because knowledge can be dangerous!!!

In an interview that Phil did with Coast 2 Coast's John B. Wells, Marshall discussed his sadness over a fellow pilot's death on 9-11 at Shanksville, PA.

This and other statements regarding his 9-11 investigation and book wouldn't lead one to perceive the "suicide and murder" of his children, dog and himself in his future.

I think they were all murdered.

We should all be livid. Stop acting like docile, mentally castrated pussies and grow a pair. It's time to get in their face. Why should we speak in hushed tones and act all polite when we are being raped every day?

Excellent, thank you and welcome! :)

Very interesting and good to see this hasn't been forgotten.

I doubt they killed him over his 9/11 musings.

None of that hasn't been discussed over and over again by countless others and I don't think he was all that accurate about his suspicions anyway. I mean, it wasn't the Saudis and even if it was it's not like he's the one who started that rumour.

But yeah, the thing about the dog. And the ring. Crazy. Interesting information from those claiming to be close friends of his.

I've never done any reading about that specifically (I'm going to now), but what if that is true? Was the *Senator* "muzzled"? And if he was, why isn't this discussed more? All this is, of course, complicated by the fact that there are no real journalists or reporters any more.

What if Phillip Marshall had documents no one else has?

If Phillip Marshall was a threat does the NDAA authorize his assassination?

The more reading I do about this case the more questions arise.
