People have a right, granted by God (not by any politician or bureaucrat) to protect themselves. The founders of this nation recognized that right, among others, and listed it in the Bill of Rights. In talking about the people's right to "keep and bear arms" the verbiage they used said "shall not be infringed." I have serious concerns about this country when people who have taken an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution don't seem to have much of an idea what it means. Is the simple phrase "shall not be infringed" that hard to understand?!?!

NO on any gun ban...NO on any magazine ban...NO on criminalizing private firearms transfers...and NO on any gun registration scheme. Anyone who votes in favor of any of those things or tries to get others to is not worthy of their office and should be impeached and imprisoned.

Well done, James.

I hope your federal politicians are honorable.

Mine are useless. Letters to them from me have gone into file 13. I have Feinstein, Ms Gun Grabber herself, as 1 sen and the other sen is illiterate Barbie Boxhead. They are both beyond the pale stupid and they hate the Constitution ( Boxhead may not even know we have a Constitution since I doubt she graduated from grade school - she married a multi-zillionaire husband so he basically bought her the sen seat so she'd stay busy and be out of his hair, I think).

Thank you. I don't have much hope of any honor in politicians and I know for sure that two of the recipents of that are worse than useless (Obama and Biden). But it also went to my rep and the two senators from this state. Heard back from the rep, here is what he said (just a form letter I'm sure).

Dear Mr. XXXXX:

Thank you for contacting my office regarding your concerns over new gun regulations. Your views are very important, and I appreciate you taking the time to share them with me.

As a strong defender of the Second Amendment, I will always fight to secure the right of law-abiding citizens to purchase and bear personal firearms. I believe that the best way to prevent acts of violence is to resolutely enforce our criminal laws. I also support the existing system of instant background checks to minimize the possibility of guns ending up in the hands of criminals. However, I think an overhaul of the current system is unnecessary and would be ineffective in preventing future violence.

In addition to ensuring that our current laws are enforced, I am working hard with local school officials and sheriff’s departments to examine what additional measures we can take to guarantee that our schools are as safe as possible.

The bottom line is that criminals and individuals who intend to do harm to others are not deterred by additional rules and regulations prohibiting gun ownership. Restricting the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families against harm by enacting strict gun-control laws would only further expose the innocent to violent crime.

Again, thank you for contacting my office. Your feedback and suggestions are always welcome. It is an honor to serve as your United States Congressman....

He said most of the right things, I'll give him that.
