Here is a link to a recording of a police scanner at the time the fire was started at the cabin occupied by Christopher Dorner. A voice can be heard saying, "We have deployed seven burners and we have a fire".

I think the fire department got near there but were told to stand off at a staging area. The decision seems to have been to let the structure burn itself down completely so long as there was no danger of it spreading to other structures or a propane tank. At one point they talked to a firefighter who had lived in the cabin as a kid and asked him what the dimensions of the basement were.

Sounds to me like they intended for it to burn down even though it might have been salvageable. Reminds me of WTC 7 and Silverstein. Am seriously wondering now if he or his company was the owner of that cabin.
