As all should now be able to see, 4um has a new look. The gist of everything is in place but there will be further tweaking of the look in the coming days. The software is being specifically redesigned to work with style sheets (css). This will allow fine tuning of fonts to the preference of the forum owner, which was hardcoded into the software previously. That work will be on-going. Enjoy!

WOW!!!! It looks really nice but to be honest - I find it much harder to read. The type seems smaller and harder to read and the grey background provides less contrast with the type. Don't mean to sound unappreciative as I know how hard you folks work on the Forum and just providing it is a great thing. But it is harder to read and I guess for me, that's the most important thing. :)
Thanks for your input.. Neil is still working on the font issues.. but we wanted to go ahead and get the new version online.. it should be resolved in a couple of days.. Neil's time online is limited.. Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah, it looks really good. And I think that maybe I just don't like change too much. The more I get use to it, the more I like it. However I had no problem with the way it was before though.

I'm really only going because of my boyfriend, I'd rather stay home myself. The holidays can be so stressful and unpleasant, if you have to spend them with people you don't really care for. Ah well, we'll get through it, it's just for a few hours (shudder)....

what browser are you using? this looks perfect size in firefox, but in IE the comment size still looks too small in relation to the buttons and poster's names. also, at what resolution is your screen set?
I drove eleven hours yesterday to celebrate Thanksgiving with my friends and goddaughter in sunny Florida. When I typed in the 4um URL I thought I mistyped it until I saw Neil's posting bragging about the new look.

Made a font change to the thread comments. Any better?
not in IE. it's still teeny tiny and much smaller than your tagline font. preview font size looks great though. i have my resolution at 1280x1024 now. that's where i had it when we had the size right before we went live.

Okay, I think part of it is that I've got a different font is firefox than I get in MSIE, and the fonts respond differently to the style sheet size commands.
Littering a dark and dreary road lay the past relics of browser-specific tags, incompatible DOMs, and broken CSS support.
You (hopefully) might want to test Opera as well :-) It's even free now... without banners! There are some minor display/rendering issues I see, but I don't know that they're not related to problems already reported (fonts and horizontal scrolling).

God is always good! I know it is. It's just that my Opera displays text in a very ugly font. I can't find a place to make any adjustments in Opera. Then again, even the opera web site looks ugly in Opera. We may not be able to help Opera.
That's odd. It's almost identical to my IE display, just a tad more compact than IE. Try: After customizing, you can toggle back and forth from author mode (whatever the website specifies plus any local overrides made above) or user mode (entirely overridden with your own settings). Let me know what doesn't work right...I'll try to talk you in.

we were on the phone together working on things for a couple of hours earlier. neil will be back this evening and we'll continue. as you notice things, keep letting us know. we're having to go over every page with a fine toothed comb! thanks, Starwind.
