As all should now be able to see, 4um has a new look. The gist of everything is in place but there will be further tweaking of the look in the coming days. The software is being specifically redesigned to work with style sheets (css). This will allow fine tuning of fonts to the preference of the forum owner, which was hardcoded into the software previously. That work will be on-going. Enjoy!

I think the art work is great, but it sucks to read words on it, and that's what people are here for, right? But hey, if 4um has become the art forum, so be it, I'll just make sure I try to fit in when I post here from now on. LOL! God is always good! When "they" come busting through my front door looking to "correct" my free speech, maybe, just maybe, one of them will hesitate when they see how pretty the site looks. That may give me the time to offer milk and cookies before they open fire. This new look might just save my life. Well done! Oh oh. What did I say? Why are the black helicopters hovering outside my house again? Sheesh! ;)

WOW!!!! It looks really nice but to be honest - I find it much harder to read. The type seems smaller and harder to read and the grey background provides less contrast with the type. Don't mean to sound unappreciative as I know how hard you folks work on the Forum and just providing it is a great thing. But it is harder to read and I guess for me, that's the most important thing. :)
Thanks for your input.. Neil is still working on the font issues.. but we wanted to go ahead and get the new version online.. it should be resolved in a couple of days.. Neil's time online is limited.. Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah, it looks really good. And I think that maybe I just don't like change too much. The more I get use to it, the more I like it. However I had no problem with the way it was before though.

I'm really only going because of my boyfriend, I'd rather stay home myself. The holidays can be so stressful and unpleasant, if you have to spend them with people you don't really care for. Ah well, we'll get through it, it's just for a few hours (shudder)....

what browser are you using? this looks perfect size in firefox, but in IE the comment size still looks too small in relation to the buttons and poster's names. also, at what resolution is your screen set?
I drove eleven hours yesterday to celebrate Thanksgiving with my friends and goddaughter in sunny Florida. When I typed in the 4um URL I thought I mistyped it until I saw Neil's posting bragging about the new look.

Made a font change to the thread comments. Any better?
not in IE. it's still teeny tiny and much smaller than your tagline font. preview font size looks great though. i have my resolution at 1280x1024 now. that's where i had it when we had the size right before we went live.
Hmmmm... in firefox my comment is a bit larger than my tagline.

Okay, I think part of it is that I've got a different font is firefox than I get in MSIE, and the fonts respond differently to the style sheet size commands.

It's a work in progress but we were anxious for everyone to see the new logo and art! The design was a joint effort by Zipporah and me, however, we hired a local webdesigner, Chalant Print, who also designed my Bring 'Em Home site, to do the work. Neil is the one who is integrating and implementing it all. Thanks, Neil, for all your effort. Zip and I are very pleased.
