Title: Study: Archeologists find remains of human-Neanderthal hybrid

Researchers believe they have pinpointed the skeletal remains of the first known human-Neanderthal hybrid, according to a study published Wednesday in the peer reviewed scientific journal PLoS ONE.

The finding comes from northern Italy, where some 40,000 years ago scientists believe Neanderthals and humans lived near each other, but developed separate and distinctly different cultures.

A portion of a jawbone found during an archaeological dig in the area reveals that the bone’s owner had facial features attributable to both modern humans and Neanderthals, the study explains.

Scientists have debated the theory of human-Neanderthal interbreeding since DNA analysis revealed in 2010 that modern humans share significant portions of their genetic code with their long extinct cousins.

Studies since then have suggested that inbreeding might not have been the case and that humans and Neanderthals instead likely shared a common ancestor before Neanderthals died out about 50,000 years ago, but the findings in PLoS One seem to contradict that thinking.

Of course, despite the wonders of modern science, there’s really no telling whether the sex was consensual or not, but the PLoS One study does seem to suggest that a scenario not unlike the “Clan of the Cave Bear” books is indeed plausible. ——

There were Neanderthals in North America - Clovus and the Solutreans. Some of the skeletons were 6'2".

Non-Africans average 2.5% Neanderthal DNA. Africans don't have any, which is why they're retarded and the lowest form of human.

"According to Richard Lynn and others, racial differences in IQ scores are observed around the world. A commonly-cited review by Richard Lynn lists IQ scores for East Asians (105), Europeans (99), Inuit (91), Southeast Asians and Amerindians (87 each), Pacific Islanders (85), South Asians/North Africans (84), Non-Bushmen sub-Saharan Africans (67), Australian Aborigines (62) and Bushmen (54)."

Can't prove it with height. Neanderthal was short and stocky, averaging 5'6" for males.

No evidence that Neanderthal used boats or crossed water. Some think they were afraid of it. The last Neanderthal holdouts were in Gibraltar where they starved to death. Plenty of food on the other side of the strait.

Average German IQ: 104. "European" covers a lot of territory.

As for the U.S., we're dragged down by blacks and "Latinos."

US has been dragged down by this, that, and the other, ever since the War of Northern Invasion.

The problem though with IQ testing is the bias introduced by the designer of the test as well as vocabulary. The problem with IQ testing is that all IQ tests have the bias of the test writer(s) built in. It can either be subconscious or conscious and is cursedly difficult to eliminate. As was found during the 1940's IQ tests very often reflect language as much or more than actual intelligence. The IQ tests used on entrance examinations by the military had a built in bias to language as used by city dwellers. Thus a lot of young men from the country and rural small towns scored very low thus leading to the bias against "dumb hicks". It wasn't that they were dumb but they spoke a flavor of English which was different from that spoken by the city kids for whom the test was written. It even went so far as scenarios written into the testing were common to city kids but completely foreign to their equally intelligent country brethren. How many country kids of the 30's and early 40's would have been familiar with common urban settings? How many Bushmen know what a street light or stop signal is? Robert Heinlein did a good job of illustrating with a hypothetical example of a 190 IQ caveman transported into a modern nuclear laboratory. After a couple of weeks he might know that a purple trefoil meant danger but he would have no clue as to the nature of the danger.

Agree completely.

IQ test results should be posted in the obits - what did this person accomplish for the good in their life.

Year 2013: We all have access to the same TV programs, the same textbooks in school, etc. The cities are now full of Mexicans and blacks, and the white kids are now in the country. Who's still getting the higher test scores?

My parents were high school dropouts, we had no books in the house, and I went to awful schools.

Yet at 12 I scored 126 on the Stanford-Benet.

Bias? Sure. That's why Mohammed Ali scored 78 even though coming from a middle-class background,

I started to use the traditional term, but invasion is more real, imo.

I would argue that language is still the big unaccounted for variable. It is a sad reality that in the culture of da 'hood to speak, read, and write standard English is considered "actin' White" and kids who do it are persecuted back into the herd. Similar applies to Mexicans whose culture does not value anything beyond about a 6th grade education and there is a resistance to learning English. Why waste time going to school when you should be working? Why bother with English when you can draw welfare speaking Spanish?

The reverse is true in the Asian community where education and erudition are highly valued and demanded of Asian children. Consequently they have a much better command of language and it shows in the results. The anti-intellectual thread in White America results in a mixed bag with upper middle class scoring higher because a higher level of education is expected.

My father, who grew up in rural Montana, scored a 36 - yet he went on to become a pilot with 2 instructor's ratings.

All modesty aside I scored high enough to be offered a special admission and partial scholarship to college - upon graduating 8th grade.

Southeast Asians and Amerindians (87 each)

I kind of find this surprising since they are Asian but don't have the IQ scores of the Chinese or the Japanese. IQ scores are highly overrated though, I wouldn't put too much stock in them. A much better measure of intelligence is what a person actually accomplishes in their life instead of their score on a test.

It must be possible to test math, spatial relationships, and basic reasoning without a cultural bias. Granted, math relies upon an understanding of Arabic numerals, but no one without this basic knowledge is likely to be taking the test in the first place.

I scored pretty high on these tests, yet felt like an idiot when I took the SAT, because so many of the questions were phrased it the form of X is to Y as Q is to... and both X and Y were words I had never seen, may as well have been types of suchi or obscure olive cultivars.

The what comes next type questions, on the other hand, I nailed those. It's always the circle with the upper left quandrant shaded red.

If there was a slather ribs with barbecue sauce portion I would prolly have been declared a genius long ago.

I score fairly high too on them, but thought many of the questions were just silly. If I was really as "smart" as my IQ score of 144 says I am then I really should have done much better in my life than I have so far.

God is always good!

Are you content with your life?

So long as your essential worldly needs are taken care of, that is really all that matters.

FWIW, you seem content.
