Ostraka were the voting paraphernalia for getting rid of public figures.

Their are members here... useless members that constantly reply to themselves and generally act in the biggest nuisance they can with out remorse or apology.

Ever thought about polling your current active membership to see how they feel about ostracizing someone...? Just wondering....

I have purposefully avoided any naming of names regardless of my obvious intent or desire, I feel that the concept merits something more than my own small singular desires or wants.

Interestingly ostracism, in the ancient days was a vote to exile someone for a fixed period. There was no defense or prosecution. It was simply a legislative act. In our terms it was a "bill of attainder."

Since this is a discussion group and not a civic or legislative body, I don't think that it's ever necessary to ostracize anyone. It's really up to the forum owner to say "Enough!" when a participant goes over the line.

There was a user here for quite a long time who espoused a particularly odious ideology who vowed to remain here forever. I haven't seen him in quite a while. He gave up the game due to non-response most probably. The best way to handle these situations is not to feed the beast if he bites.
