With a bomb strapped to his chest, one of the Boston Marathon suspects was killed early Friday after he and his accomplice robbed a 7-Eleven, shot a police officer to death, carjacked an SUV and hurled explosives out the window in an extraordinary firefight with law enforcement, authorities told NBC News. The second suspect — the one in the white hat in photos released by the FBI — was on the loose, and police ordered people in the Boston suburb of Watertown to stay in their homes and businesses not to open. Boston shut down its buses and subway system for the hunt.

The suspects are brothers with the last name Tsarnaev, law enforcement officials told NBC News. The suspect at large, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, is 19 and has a Massachusetts driver’s license, they said. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that both men had international ties, had been in the United States about a year and had military experience

The chaotic sequence of events started six hours after the FBI triggered a nationwide manhunt by releasing photos of the suspects, believed responsible for detonating two bombs at the marathon finish line Monday, killing three people and injuring 176.

Watertown resident Andrew Kitzenberg says he had a "clear line of view" of what he said looked "like a pressure cooker bomb."

The suspect at large was described by authorities as light-skinned and with brown, curly hair, and wearing a gray hoodie.

“There is a terrorist on the loose,” a law enforcement officer said at a press conference before dawn.

Police shut a 4-mile stretch of streets between Cambridge, Mass., and Watertown because they could be littered with unexploded devices, and they locked down Watertown. A convey of at least 20 vehicles, including military-style humvees and buses, was seen descending on the town.

“I just want to speak to the community of Watertown. We need your help now. We are asking everyone to shelter into your place,” Watertown Police Chief Edward Deveau said. “The Watertown community has always stood strong. We need them to do that today.”

Harvard University, Boston University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Boston public schools all closed. Emerson University closed and told students to stay where they were.

Andrew Kitzenberg, who lives in Watertown, said he saw the two men shooting at six police cars from 70 or 80 yards away.

“There was a long exchange of gunfire,” told NBC News in an interview. “They were also utilizing bombs, which sounded and looked like grenades, while engaging in the gunfight,” he said. “They also had what looked like a pressure- cooker bomb.”

Investigators believe at least one of the two bombs that exploded at the marathon finish line was housed in an ordinary kitchen pressure cooker.

Police with guns drawn search for a suspect on April 19, 2013 in Watertown, Mass. Earlier, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus police officer was shot and killed late Thursday night at the school's campus in Cambridge. A short time later, police reported exchanging gunfire with alleged carjackers in Watertown, a city near Cambridge. It's not clear whether the shootings are related or whether either are related to the Boston Marathon bombing.

President Barack Obama was briefed overnight on the events, a White House official told NBC News. On Thursday, he spoke at a prayer service for the marathon victims and vowed that the people responsible would be caught. Law enforcement officials said the tumult began just before 11 p.m., when the suspects approached a police officer from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and shot him in the head.

The two then stole the officer’s cruiser, robbed a nearby 7-Eleven, carjacked a Mercedes SUV and briefly kidnapped the driver, the sources said. The suspects threw explosives out the window during the chase that followed, they said. A Boston transit police officer was shot and wounded, authorities said. The dead suspect — the man in the black hat from the FBI photos — had an improvised explosive device strapped to his chest, law enforcement officials said.

Kitzenberg said that the firefight ended when one of the shooters ran toward the Watertown officers and ultimately fell to the ground. Kitzenberg said he could not tell whether the man was tackled or had been shot.

The other drove the SUV through a line of police offcers at the end of the street, he said. A bullet from the gunbattle lodged in the wall of Kitzenberg’s apartment, he said. Kitzenberg said that while he had a clear view of the shooters, he could not see their faces. He described them as “average size, average height.” “We heard a loud blast and we didn't know what it was,” said Rebecca Carbone, who stepped out of her home when she heard sirens. “It sounded like a car backfiring.”

John Grimes, a retired letter carrier, said that he heard three loud explosions, “and you don’t hear explosions at night a lot.”

Dominick Reuter / EPA Massachusetts State Police, Cambridge Police and MIT Police search at the scene of the shooting of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Police Officer in Cambridge, Massachusetts, April 18, 2013.

This is a developing story. Please check back for more updates. Tom Winter, Kerry Sanders and Jonathan Dienst of NBC News contributed to this report. Reuters also contributed to this report.

Holy shit! The FBI telegraphed the worst possible message, when they ID'd the bombers, without a contain-capture plan.

That was so stupid that I couldn't believe that they were capable of warning the bad guys.

Now, they've got God only knows how many citizens "contained."

Here's hoping that these guys can't be linked to Iran.

Yer link came up blank so I did a search:

tarpley.net/2008/02/03/ob...ked-to-chechen-terrorism/

I think this works. Whatever anyone thinks of Tarpley's political or economic views, he's got a historical perspective like none other. He does tie us, as in US, in to the Chechens in a nice neat knot. They are just one component of activist world Islamism that factions in Washington have used like a dagger pointed at both Russia and China and also conveniently to terrorize the folks at home.

The "cui bono" of this thing defies easy analysis.

Everybody has seen the guys with the punisher logos on their hats at the scene suspiciously carrying bulky backpacks of the kind supposed to have been carried to transport the pressure cooker bombs to the marathon. AJ and others have been screaming bloody murder, literally, about these pictures.

Guys with the backpacks

Hats with the punisher logo

Craft International vehicle at the scene

The punisher logo is used by both the Navy SEALS and Craft International. God knows how they figure into all this. Who in the hell would put them into this picture with all the security cameras and amateur and professional photography sure to be going on at such an event? Was someone trying to muddy the waters or compromise another party here or did these guys have a hand in this?

Now we've got Chechens on the run carjacking vehicles and run capping cops. It's all too wild for me. I'll be damned if I can get a handle on this. One thing's for sure. This wasn't some two-man job. These things never are. You gotta keep asking yourself "Who benefits?" That will become clear I think in the coming days.

The "cui bono" of this thing defies easy analysis.

Not really if you step back and take a global look at the scene. There are multiple ongoing attacks by forces within our government to eliminate the Constitutional Rights of the average citizen. Particularly problematic to our would-be masters and mistresses are the first, second, and fourth Amendments.

We have multiple threats toward our liberty ongoing, but there is a small, but increasing resistance, backlash, opposed to the current attempts to gradually subjugate us.

We have already seen the Feral Bureau of Instigation set up and trap multiple losers in so-called "home grown" terror events. Now take it a step further. The recent push for heavy handed gun control is being vigorously opposed. More people are becoming aware of the real danger our liberty faces from those behind the scenes forces of Banksters allied with psycho-iatrists and Psycho-ologists. So, always you have to look at these events from a psychological manipulation viewpoint.

A relatively small psychotic ruling cabal can only assert their power and maintain it as long as the vast majority of the Sheeple are kept either cowed or unaware. There is a relative handful at the very top and the real worldwide ruling cabal is no more than about ten thousand people. So, imagine if a large percentage of 300 million rose up against them? They would be forced into using nuclear weapons or go under. Thus a lot of the control mechanisms currently in use are covert in nature. That is, they only work so long as people are unaware of their existence.

There has been growing discontent with the so-called "War On Terror". In fact the political whores in the District of Corruption have almost ceased using it entirely and have substituted various euphemisms. Alongside that has been increasing agitation to call patriots terrorists and to equate opposition, however mild, towards unlawful governance and the attempt to enslave us with "terrorism". The attempted equation being planted in the mind of the Sheeple is "patriot = terrorist".

So, the benefactors of this event are the usual suspects - those who see chaos and fear among the sheeple as their allies in keeping us from coming together in opposition. That is their biggest fear and is why the Tea Party was infiltrated and taken over as well as turned into an epithet among the weak minded left. It is psychological manipulation aimed at keeping the pot boiling and people diverted while the master class continues to rapidly finish their corral.

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed -- and hence clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." ~ H. L. Mencken

If this operation was carried out by some faction in the District of Criminals, why would they use Caucasians whom Washington has been courting and supporting against Moscow for the last twenty years?

Convenience perhaps? Also, the possibility that these two thought they were working for the government exists. Much like the London 7/7 patsies were. (Do not expect the other patsy to be taken alive. He must be killed to shut him up.) And as well they are muslims so it reinforces the muslims=terrorists meme. I do not pretend to have fathomed all of the inner workings of the ruling cabal and their trained seal pychs but reinforcement of existing memes seems clear. Also there is a greater awareness growing that the real obvious connection between all of the shootings, such as the most recent massacre of children, is mind control drugs. That is a connection they want to drive out of examination and conversation.

As always with these events there are multiple aspects and here diversion seems to be one of them. Rising opposition to attacks on the Constitution by the illegitimate government, opposition to GMO depopulation weapons, opposition to the attempt to disarm us to make mass murder easier to conduct in the open, etc., etc., etc., ... . In short they are trying to come at us from multiple angles and keep us disunited in our opposition. That is also Rush Limbaugh, Rachel Madcow, and the rest of the braying pseudo-partisan media's job.

Yeah, who and why?

1. They are incredibly arrogant. (Psychotics, by their nature, overestimate their own brilliance and invulnerability.)

2. They control the media.

3. The majority of the Sheeple will believe what they are TOLD to believe regardless of the glaring inconsistencies.

Look at FreepTardia. The FreepTards are, predictably, busy repeating all of the spin mantras as though they are unquestionable truths. Try going over there and questioning any of the planted mind control memes and you'll be gone in thirty seconds. Everything is under control.

that old saying about beating a dead horse...

in this case, terrorizing americans into submission... 300 million dead horses

sooner or later, though, it's got to be that "diminishing returns" thing

.

but i've been thinking for a long time now that it's gonna take generations of poverty before americans recover enough faith in each other --by poverty- enforced closeness to each other-- before americans will be able to take any meaningful action...

and even then, look at russians... how many years did they submit to soviet bullshit before anything changed?

and the worst of it is, the changes in russia came from the top down, they didnt come from the people

the thing you seem to be forgetting is the neocons' conviction that they can create their own reality...

Karl Rove is technically not a neocon, but

"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors ... and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Rove's just, what shall we call him? How 'bout simply a crummy fascist. The crummy fascists are allies of the neocons, and they think alike tactically. Neither group can get along without the other. The neocons are statist assholes with european/jewish roots. The crummy fascists are anglo corporate-rape-america pirates. They are perforce allies.

Israeli False-Flaggers Flown in for Boston Shoot-Out? Share on facebookShare on twitterShare on emailShare on pinterest_shareMore Sharing Services44

by Kevin Barrett

Update: The authorities now claim the Boston bombing suspects are Chechnyan Muslims. How odd! The US and Israel are allies of the Chechnyan Muslims in their fight against Russia. In fact, the US and Israel create and fund Chechyan “al-Qaeda” cells to conduct terror attacks against Russia.

So maybe these suspects are the usual al-CIA-duh patsies. And maybe Israeli “terror experts”were flown to the US to oversee the framing of the Muslim patsies.

Note that CNN and ABC are now giving lots of play to friends, acquaintances and family who are not painting the Tsarnaevs as terrorist candidates, and the networks seem to be at least entertaining the notion that these guys were set up.

And in other news today - our gubment found the evil domestic terrorist who sent poison letters. The perp is a mentally ill Elvis impersonator who stopped taking his bi-polar meds. I wonder if it was real ricin or just ground up castor beans. Easy to grow but hard to refine to the proper fineness to be deadly if inhaled.

Of the 2 possibilities you list, it's probably the 2nd option.

But come on - it could be ground pepper for all us sheeple know.

The perp is a bi-polar ELVIS IMPERSONATOR for gosh sakes. He's a patsy. He could be convinced to do or say anything because he's a kook with limited employable skills. Also, one of the reader respondants to the article states that the perp is a registered Democrat voter. Quite funny, if true.

Good piece. Thanks for the link.

Dzhokar Tsarnaev, is 19 and has a Massachusetts driver’s license, they said. Law enforcement officials told NBC News that both men had international ties, had been in the United States about a year and had military experience

Military experience? From where? So, he's supposedly a 19 year old Military trained munitions guy -- seemingly tapped to be an FBI patsy since he was a minor but still no allegations of their contributing to juvenile deliquency and worse for false flagging purposes; and he reportedly drove over his brother after carjacking what was possibly a government vehicle without getting gunned down by any of the well armed personnel swarming the area or the vehicle being stopped either. Kitsch...scripted by Kitzenberg, maybe...is what it sounds like.
