The Mystery of Göbekli Tepe and Its Message to Us

(snip)

Questioning Accepted History

Back in 1991, I had the temerity to announce that the Great Sphinx of Egypt, conventionally dated to 2500 BCE (the reign of Pharaoh Khafre), actually has its origins in the 7000 to 5000 BCE range, or possibly earlier.

My announcement was done via a presentation at the October 1991 annual meeting of the Geological Society of America (this was allowed only after a formal abstract, submitted with my colleague John Anthony West, was accepted based on positive professional peer review).1 I made my case utilising scientific analyses, comparing erosion and weathering profiles around the Sphinx to the ancient climatic history of Egypt.

In brief, the Sphinx sits on the edge of the Sahara Desert, a hyper-arid region for the past 5,000 years; yet the statue shows substantial rain-induced erosion. The original structure must date back thousands of years prior to 3000 BCE (the head was re-carved in dynastic times).

I had pushed the Great Sphinx, arguably the grandest and most recognisable statue in the world, back into a period when humanity was supposedly just transitioning from a hunter-gatherer economy to a sedentary life. People 7,000 or more years ago were still brutish and unsavoury, at least by modern civilised standards. Certainly they were not carving giant statues (the Sphinx is about 20 meters tall by over 70 meters long) out of solid limestone bedrock. Immediately after my announcement of an older Sphinx, I was under attack. Archaeologist Carol Redmount (University of California, Berkeley) was quoted in the media, “There’s just no way that could be true.” The article continued, “The people of that region would not have had the technology, the governing institutions or even the will to build such a structure thousands of years before Khafre’s reign, she said.”2

The initial hoopla peaked in February 1992 at a “debate” on the age of the Great Sphinx held at the Chicago meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.3 As the New York Times put it, “The exchange was to last an hour, but it spilled over to a news conference and then a hallway confrontation in which voices were raised and words skated on the icy edge of scientific politeness.” Egyptologist Mark Lehner could not accept the notion of an older Sphinx, personally attacking me by labelling my research “pseudoscience.” Lehner argued, “If the Sphinx was built by an earlier culture, where is the evidence of that civilisation? Where are the pottery shards? People during that age were hunters and gatherers. They didn’t build cities.”4

At the time I lacked any pottery shards. But I was sure of my science, and I persisted. Two decades later, we have something better than pottery shards, and even earlier than my conservative Sphinx date of circa 5000 BCE to 7000 BCE (I now currently favour the older end of this range, or an even earlier date for the original Sphinx).

Göbekli Tepe dates from over 10,000 years ago.

Poster Comment:

As new and effectively suppressed scientific facts come out in the light of day, the shell game being waged by the acolytes of materialistic "Big Science" will blow up in their squinty-eyed faces!

The mind control and propaganda being applied to change the essential and original spirit of those in the European colonization of North America will have failed.

"American pragmatism" does not equate to grossly ignorant Materialism!
Grossly ignorant Materialism does NOT equate to science nor to SCIENCE!
The empirical method (the "scientific method") does NOT translate only to mere science-as-materialism!

The early dreamers were an original mix of radical boldness in action with deeply conservative social and spiritual values. Their spiritual views were no doubt constrained by their experience with the religious institutions or Europe.

However, contrary to nanny-state, big-sister propaganda, the people stout enough to cross the ocean looking for more freedom also had more independent minds. They saw that they had to divorce their previous State/owner because the unholy alignment between the institutions of the secular state and the religious institutions made true freedom impossible.

Zoom to today, where the State has become its own religion, with those accepting the State's label of "Progressive" becoming the new proselytizers, brow-beaters and inquisitors all in one!

This religion of the State is more intrusive than any religion previously practiced on this continent, claiming far more power and worse, claiming to be in sole possession of the entire Western intellectual understanding, claiming that its bitch, corporate science, already understands all of the foundational "truths" and resistance is futile!

Today's manufactured cult, the MEdiaMatrix, is trying to close all minds, to keep the slaves' perception "in-the-box". To that end, the attempt is being made to convince all the non-technical conformists that Big Science should be worshipped without intellectual reservations, just because B.S. is claiming to have all the answers!

In one hundred years, the dominant bitch of the State has kicked out the old dominant bitch (the Roman Catholic church) to the curb AND planted its own fat ass on the throne with an epoxy of corruption. In a clever twist, the new bitch-boss goes much further up your ass and into your undefended mind and complacently claims the right to do absolutely ANYTHING to your body or mind, no restrictions from conscience nor from a vacant compassion.....

Back to Pragmatism...

Pragmatism frees up the inventive mind because being pragmatic means never having to say "I'm sorry" when your invention disturbs some mentally abstract assumption.

Peacefully co-existing with sincerely held spiritual views, the pragmatic mindset allowed unfettered creativity to be applied to practical, physical and social challenges, with no meddlesome blow-back from the inquisition, the nosy neighbors or the religious tool-takers.

Pragmatic action was the way a sovereign citizen could liberate physical life from unnecessary work, stress and pain, using a fresh, experience-driven approach to ideas, detached from any cultural cant or traditional superstition.

At the same time, being a successfully practicing pragmatist ALSO allowed more tolerance to exist in the American dreamer's character; as long as no one gets in my way (or in my face), I don't mind what others are doing or what they think!

This is a short characterization of the American dreamer school of pragmatism. This variation was no doubt influenced by the native American culture, where the vast space allowed "live and let live" to have its day more so than in more crowded former paradises.

Nice try, NWO-Totalitarians!

Your character morphing, soul-pinioning tactics are falling short! You may have the mass mind in hypnotic trance but NOT in hypnotic control. You have traumatized a certain percentage of the population into turning off their headlights.

However, you have not and CAN NOT completely disconnected the spirit from the physical vessel; at any time up until every living slave has the explosive/poison chip, which cannot be removed without highly specialized tools, permanently imbedded in their bodies, the TRANCE MAY BREAK!

Oh, the horror!

The horror of contemplating the reality that the evil dream to which you have committed your whole heart and mind through several lifetimes, for which you bet your entire soul, may unravel before the lowly peon collaborators get their very own kids to sacrifice!

To get so close to the realization of an evil nightmare, in which you would have daily engorged yourself on ill-gotten energy, the life force of dying human beings with souls, must regurgitate the psychosis latent in the fear-based mind, into the sour mouth of nausea.

Göbekli Tepe dates from over 10,000 years ago.

Patrick Symmes wrote in Newsweek, “But the real reason the ruins at Göbekli remain almost unknown, not yet incorporated in textbooks, is that the evidence is too strong, not too weak. ‘The problem with this discovery’, as [Glenn] Schwartz of Johns Hopkins puts it, ‘is that it is unique’. No other monumental sites from the era have been found. Before Göbekli, humans drew stick figures on cave walls, shaped clay into tiny dolls, and perhaps piled up small stones for shelter or worship. Even after Göbekli, there is little evidence of sophisticated building.”9

Thanks for the ping. One of my favorite topics - the true antiquity of man. Depending upon which data set you use the Sphinx is in all likelihood way older than 7,000 BC. While I cannot point to specific supporting data it seems likely to me that it is at least 25,000 years old and possibly older than that.

As was evidenced in the article you posted a lot of archaeologists are perfectly willing to discard data that does not fit within their preconceived framework and will attack virulently anyone who points out the evidences that suggests a much greater age for anatomically modern man and for the rise of organized higher level cultures/civilizations.

The argument of "where are the potsherds" is a strawman. It presumes that any older culture would conform to the prejudices and preconceptions of modern archaeologists. Assuming a great enough age, and intervening earth changes, it is likely only great monuments built of enduring materials, such as stone, would still be recognizable as artifacts of a civilization after the passage of enough time. Our own culture, relying upon wood and steel for most of its structures, would be mostly dust after a thousand years were civilization to end tomorrow. Wood rots very fast and steel turns to rust. Look at the wrecks of old cars less than 100 years old. Many of them are now little more than piles of corroded metal and in a thousand years they would wave rusted into obscurity and be gone. In ten thousand years there would be few recognizable remnants of what we laughingly call civilization.

Part of the problem with the lamestream's denial of data putting holes in their established framework is Darwin. Anthropologists, and hence archaeologists, have established a historical framework based upon their conceptions of materialistic science i.e., evolution. If an older age for modern man is allowed, and for the rise of the first civilizations, it blows their evolutionary framework to Kingdome Come. And we just can't have that. Better to throw out good valid data than to sin against Darwin.

Yet despite one preposterous attempt at explaining away contradictory data after another they still have to result to personal attacks and ignoring irrefutable evidence. The fact is that the weathering on the Sphinx can ONLY be explained by water erosion and that alone puts the age of the Sphinx back to 8,000 BC at a minimum.

There is similar data for the Great Pyramid. When it was first opened up it had extensive salt encrustations going up 40 feet inside the pyramid. However, the last time there was salt water in the Giza Basin was prior to 25,000 BC which would mean that the Great Pyramid was built prior to the flooding of the basin with a shallow salt sea. It also, as a corollary implies the existence of a high level of civilization prior to that. One fact that keeps coming up is that there are clear signs of the use of diamond encrusted power saw blades, of large size, that were used to cut the stone for the pyramid and some of the surrounding monuments.

The mountain of data that exists is basically not refutable so the only way the lamestream can hold onto their false explanations is by denying publication to contrary data and personal attacks.

Fascinating article. As usual the lamestream is busily trying to avoid another example of high civilization much earlier than their timelines allow for.

"And like my work on the Sphinx, the specialists are perplexed by Göbekli Tepe. Even after Göbekli, there is little evidence of sophisticated building.”9"

Of course "no evidence" means no accepted evidence that they cannot try to ignore or make go away. There is plenty of evidence, but the lamestream has been busy trying to explain it away, discredit it, hide it, or deny its existence.

I imagine the academics are cowering in their Ivory Towers hoping this will just all go away.

The other thing that drives them crazy, and which they will not even investigate, are the ruins spotted, from time to time, on the Atlantic seafloor - some as deep as 9,000 feet down, and apparently very sophisticated.

No, lamestream archaeology and anthropology are edifices built of straw and remain standing only because data contrary to the preferred and accepted theories is not allowed. DAS IST VERBOTEN!!!
