Title: TWA Flight 800 investigators break silence in new documentary, claim original conclusion about cause of crash is wrong

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago.

However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down.

Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded and crashed off the coast of nearby East Moriches, Long Island, killing everyone on the plane.

“..This team of investigators who actually handled the wreckage and victims’ bodies, prove that the officially proposed fuel-air explosion did not cause the crash,” reads a statement by the producers of the film, which will debut on cable network EPIX next month. “They also provide radar and forensic evidence proving that one or more ordinance explosions outside the aircraft caused the crash.” However, the statement said they did not speculate about the source or sources of any ordinance explosions.

The whistleblower team, which includes investigators-at the time-from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), TWA, and the Airline Pilots Association, have since retired from their positions. They claim that at the time, they were placed under a gag order by the NTSB, which they charged falsified the official conclusion of the cause of the crash. They indicated they would elaborate more in a Wednesday media briefing.

The NTSB report, the culmination of a four-year investigation, suggested the cause of the explosion was due to an explosion in the gas tank caused by a short circuit.

With conspiracy theories immediately swirling around the crash – one being that it was caused by a terrorist missile strike -- the FBI conducted a 16-month investigation and concluded that there was no evidence to indicate that any criminal act occurred.

It seems as if it's all crashing down on their heads.

Regarding 9/11, I can see it happening soon. Whistleblowers have momentum on their side now.

This might be the beginning of the end.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this documentary.

This might be the beginning of the end.

It's the beginning of the end, it's just the end of what that's in question.

How many witnesses were there at the time that reported seeing a missle go towards the jet? IIRC it was dozens.

This is a story that disappeared down the memory hole. It's a timely resurrection.

The government has lost the momentum.

Over 150 witnesses along the beach on Long Island reported seeing an object streaking up in the sky prior to the explosion. They ranged from military pilots to all kinds of professional people. They were ALL interrogated by the FBI and told they must be mistaken. Insane

NONE of their testimony was presented at the NTSB hearing. The conventional wisdom around TWA was that this was an attempt by terrorists on the EL AL flight immediately ahead of 800 that missed. The Clinton administration(or any other administration for that matter) could not possibly have admitted that terrorists could possess SAM's with that capability(although we all know they are available for a price).

emphasis mine. I'm not sure why this had to be an EM missile. But I bet it was a missile. TWA 800 happened in '96. Boeing tested it in 2012 www.gmanetwork.com/news/s...tromagnetic-pulse-missile

Here's my crazy CT on the subject: it was a terrorist attack that had to be covered up due to the big events of 9/11 scheduled for the near future. Can't have people thinking there are terrorists targeting civil airlines. It'd take the surprise factor out of the big event. The "bad guys" jumped the gun and almost screwed it up for them..

Could be, I dont know.

I just want to hear them say it was a SAM. Then tailor the possible motives to what is exposed.

To me, the pilot I quoted above may be right, they targeted the El Al plane and hit the wrong one. Cant have the sheep know that they have SAMs, because that would cost a lot of money.

It would be interesting to know why that El Al plane was targeted , if that is what happened. Who was on board?

Michael Rivero has the best theory, I believe. He says the dog didn't bark. The US Navy was all over the south shore of LI that evening, and if a terrorist had launched a missile, they would have tracked it and known the location of the source and would have gone off hunting for the bad guys. But they did nothing instead, and therefore it seems plausible that the US Navy was responsible for the missile.

I remember thinking, when it first happened, that the truth would come out that the Navy did it, right after the election. I figured Clinton had to cover it up to have any chance for re-election.

I'm not thinking it was intentional. Just a terrible accident.

I remember something about the navy being in the area, but this was a long time ago. So many crimes have happened since then that it's hard to keep these things straight.

If what Rivero(?) wrote is what actually happened, he made a good case.

Something stands out though. Why was there a live fire exercise that close to shore near some major airports?

Another thing, airliners have IFF too, but they're called transponders. Targets are interrogated to see if they are the "enemy" before anything is fired at them. Wasn't that done? It's basic stuff that even I know and I haven't been in the navy

The New York Post, in its story of September 22, 1996, reported, Law-enforcement sources said the hardest evidence gathered so far overwhelmingly suggests a surface-to-air missile...

The FBI interviewed 154 "credible" witnesses -- including scientists, schoolteachers, Army personnel and business executives -- who described seeing a missile heading through the sky just before TWA 800 exploded.

"Some of these people are extremely, extremely credible," a top federal official said.

FBI technicians mapped the various paths -- points in the sky where the witnesses said they saw the rising "flare-like" object -- and determined that the "triangulated" convergence point was virtually where the jumbo jet initially exploded.

The New York Times, on July 19th, 1996, reported, " [ Witnesses reported ] a "streak of light" hitting the plane just before it blew up."

I concur.

There was also a sighting of some form of cruise missile over a Long Island party that evening.

I caught the final seconds of a government apologist of some sort talking about this new documentary (that for some reason we have to wait a month to see). I don't even remember which channel it was on.

I could hear fear in his voice. He tried to make it sound like righteous anger at what this documentary might show, but it was fear that came through clearest, by his words and tone of voice.

This might get interesting.

I believe a kerosine explosion brought that plane down just like a kerosine fire brought down the twin towers (and bldg 7). American exceptionalism my ass. We can't think our way out of a wet paper bag. The proof of how ignorant we are as a country is that these bastards have the balls to tell us this stuff (after destroying the evidence).

American Airlines Flight 191
American Airlines Flight 587
TWA Flight 800

Did some research on TWA Flt. 800. It was the second worst air disaster in this country until AA Flt. 587 crashed in Queens, NY soon after 9/11. Not much seems to be discussed controversially about that one. The worst, AA Flt. 191, crashed around Chicago in 1979. Had to wonder if it's not more than coincidental how those numbers are so similar to 9/11. I wondered too if Flt. 587 crashed in a restricted airspace area [Edit to add: or flew through restricted airspace before that] and am still not sure.
