WASHINGTON – During the weeks before he was killed in a car crash in Los Angeles, reporter Michael Hastings was researching a story about a privacy lawsuit brought by Florida socialite Jill Kelley against the Department of Defense and the FBI.
Hastings, 33, was scheduled to meet with a representative of Kelley next week in Los Angeles to discuss the case, according to a person close to Kelley. Hastings wrote for Rolling Stone and the website BuzzFeed.
Kelley alleges that military officials and the FBI leaked her name to the media to discredit her after she reported receiving a stream of emails that were traced to Paula Broadwell, a biographer of former CIA director David H. Petraeus, according to a lawsuit filed in Federal District Court in Washington, D.C., on June 3 http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3033683/posts

On Nov. 8, 2012, two days after President Obama’s re-election, Mayor Rahm Emanuel delivered a speech at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago to raise money for an organization that supports the private funding of part of the city’s struggling school system.
After the high-dollar event, I asked the mayor a question about his other fundraising role: the millions of dollars he raised in the final days of the campaign for the Obama superPAC, Priorities USA.
The mayor responded to my question by attempting to berate me, then grabbed me, while his bodyguards approached. A member of the mayor’s staff later demanded that I delete the recording of the encounter, and a recording of the mayor’s speech to the well-heeled donors.
I recounted the scene my new book PANIC 2012: The Sublime and Terrifying Inside Story of Obama’s Final Campaign. Last night an audio tape of the encounter was aired in part on The Young Turks.
“Look, I don’t mind being yelled at,” I explained to the host, Cenk Uygur, on the show. “But I think the mayor clearly crossed the line by grabbing me. I’ve interviewed terrorist leaders. I’ve interviewed dictators. I’ve interviewed a lot of politicians. I’ve interviewed a lot of angry people, but none of them have ever laid a hand on me.”
Journalist Michael Hastings, who died last week in a fiery single-car crash in Hancock Park, was not working on a story about Florida socialite Jill Kelley, his wife said.
Elise Jordan posted a message on Twitter on Tuesday morning: "To correct the record, since I've seen it erroneously reported a few times: @mmhastings was not working on a story about Jill Kelley."
She also thanked people for their "love, support and friendship" after the death of Hastings, who was best known for a 2010 Rolling Stone profile that led to the resignation of Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal.
A person close to Kelley had told The Times that Hastings was scheduled to meet with a representative of Kelley's this week in Los Angeles to discuss the case.
Why would Hastings want to spend his valuable time interviewing that social climber?
I've read on various blogs that Jill Kelley has some Benghazi related information due to her "friendships" with Petraeus and General Allen. Doubtful. Last people on earth you'd confide in are Paula and Jill - 2 very creepy women - unless you really really wanted your "secret" published in the National Enquirer.
