He turned 63 this past February.

Two and a half years younger than I.

Thanks, he's in as good a facility as there is in north Texas, so there's that going for him.

Hopefully, it was caused by low back surgery last Wednesday and can be stopped and reversed.

He never drank alcohol and both he and his wife stopped the cigs about fifteen years back.

Thanks out to everyone for their good thoughts, wishes, and prayers!

Niece Kim rings in with news that John's BP was 80/50 upon arrival at the ER; it's now up to 126/80, color has returned to his face, and he's been moved to the CCU.

So the Lods thank the Great Physician and his earthly helpers, and all you guys for your prayers.

Amen.

Acute

Renal Failure Versus Chronic Kidney Disease

Kidney failure occurs when the kidneys lose their ability to function. To

treat kidney failure effectively, it is important to know whether kidney

disease has developed suddenly (acute) or over the long term (chronic). Many

conditions, diseases, and medicines can create situations that lead to acute

and chronic kidney disease. Acute renal failure is more commonly reversible

than chronic kidney failure.

Some history I sent to a life-long friend -

Between Rick's and Kim's calls, I learned that surgeries often can cause sudden, acute, renal failure; and of course he had that lower-back "remodel" as his doc called it, last Wednesday.

He's not outta the woods yet, but he's not alone and lost in them either.

When Kim was 4, John got her a motorized go-cart; when she was a junior in HS he got her a Silver Anniversary Edition Corvette. Her idea of driving is about like ours used to be.

They got him loaded into the back seat of Kim's Tahoe, laying down; Kim said that John kept telling her to slow down, and she kept telling him to shut-up and close his eyes.

I'm proud of our little family.

1) Mysterious blood clots in his lungs - cleared up.

2) Lower back "remodeling" - evidently very successfully done, no pain.

3) Now this.

Hopefully, the filter installed prior to the back surgery will catch'em...it's all really whenever God wants him to come Home.

I have to keep that truth in mind.

Thanks Lod. I read something a while back and thought it was so good I wrote it down and kept it. It is what I would tell my family and friends if I knew I wouldn't be seeing them again in this life.

Don't look away. All life is transitory, a dream. We all come together in the same place at the end of time. If I don't see you again here, I will see you in a little while in a place where no shadows fall.

For what it's worth, Lod, I decided a long time ago that everything and everyone belongs to God and they're His to do with as He pleases. Life, when compared to the infinite length of eternity is an insignificant period of time that's described biblically as a mere "vapor."

Our duty is to learn and endure til the end.
