“What is the city but the people?” asked Shakespeare in Coriolanus. In The Tragic City: Birmingham 1963-2013 , author Paul Kersey examines the city of Birmingham, Alabama. One of the major battlegrounds of the Civil Rights movement, Birmingham now has a special place in the hearts of those who fought for and support what the author calls Black Run America (BRA). Every American schoolchild now learns that peaceful, put-upon blacks in that city faced down insurmountable odds in overcoming segregation, white racism, bombings and Bull Connor’s fire hoses and police dogs. But Kersey looks beyond that popular myth at the reality of post-civil rights era Birmingham. In this age of rapid demographic displacement of whites, it is remarkable to note that Birmingham’s racial balance was stable from 1890 to 1960. Throughout those 70 years, the demographics remained steady at 60% white, 40% black. Not only was the racial balance stable, Birmingham was prosperous as well. It vied with Atlanta for the title of business capital of the South. The city was home to six Fortune 500 companies even into the 1990s. (It now has only one). Birmingham worked because it was a segregated city whose institutions were all run by whites. The brutal, unmentionable fact is that both working class and wealthy whites could live in safe, orderly neighborhoods with good schools because blacks were legally barred from living there. (If The Tragic City has a flaw it is that the author does not spend more time documenting life in the pre-Civil Rights era). But with the success of the Civil Rights revolution in the 1960s, many whites saw the writing on the wall and fled. By 1980, blacks were 55% of the population. This demographic shift was key to giving Birmingham its first black mayor in 1979. In what was essentially a racial headcount, black Democrat Richard Arrington beat white Republican Frank Parsons by 2,000 votes. Arrington received 98% of the black vote and Parsons garnered 88% of the white vote. This marked the beginning of black political control of Birmingham—and thedecline of a once great city into a blighted, crime-plagued disgrace. Birmingham is now 74% black and lives up to the name of Kersey’s book. Blacks have complete control of city leadership including the Mayor’s office, Police Chief, School Superintendent and seven of nine seats on the City Council. The results are predictable. Though Birmingham’s nickname is “The Magic City” it is now in actuality “The Tragic City: •Birmingham has the eighth highest crime rate in the nation. U.S. News & World Report ranked Birmingham as the third most dangerous city in the nation for 2011. •From June 2012 to May 2013, 100% of those arrested for homicide in the city were black. •Population has declined from a high of 340,887 in the supposedly benighted days of 1960 to 212,237 in 2010. •The Brookings Institution found that 29% of Birmingham residents live in poverty—the eighth highest among America’s 100 largest cities. •The Alabama Department of Education had to take over the city’s failing schools (98% black) and now run the day-to-day operations. The school system faced a $30 million dollar budget shortfall in 2011. •Jefferson County—home to Birmingham—is $5 billion in debt and filed the biggest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history in 2011. •In 2008 alone, the city spent $750,000 tearing down abandoned, blighted homes. •The city has the highest sales tax in the nation at 10 cents on the dollar. Despite these massive failings, Birmingham’s black leadership focuses on things like spending taxpayer money to advertise in a book called “Who’s Who in Black Alabama” and banning the growth of new payday loan and check-cashing stores. In 2012, the City Council made Trayvon Martin an honorary citizen after he attacked George Zimmerman and was shot for his efforts. Votes on the council are regularly 7-2, with the two lone white representatives the only dissenters from black race advocacy disguised as politics. Why do these two whites even bother? Black political control of Birmingham also meant a massive increase in Affirmative Action. One of Mayor Arrington’s major goals was to increase the number of black city workers. He did this by implementing strict quotas. Kersey documents several cases of whites successfully suing the city for anti-white discrimination. A case study of how bad Affirmative Action is in Birmingham: the Fire Department. Arrington implemented a one-to-one hiring and promotion rule in 1981 to bring more blacks into the department—one black had to be hired or promoted for every white that was hired or promoted. Since promotions are based on test scores, this has resulted in numerous white firefighters being passed over for promotion despite being better qualified. In 1983, the city promoted five lieutenants, with two being white and three black. This resulted in 76 whites being passed over as the highest scoring black came in at 79th . (The top two white test takers did get promoted). Kersey quotes a black firefighter defending this discrimination against whites: “So whites are saying … ‘it wasn’t our fault. I wasn’t here.’ Well, okay, if it wasn’t your fault, and if you weren’t the recipient of what your forefathers did, or whatever, then, why when we [blacks] take a test, do you [whites] always come out number one?” Second Class Citizens, by Stuart Taylor, Jr, American Lawyer, September 1, 1989 The result: white and black firefighters routinely file lawsuits for discrimination, never socialize with each other and even have separate unions to represent them. So much for integration. So where did the whites go to escape black rule? Prosperous suburbs like Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Woodlawn and Hoover were the prime destinations for white flight. Unlike Birmingham, these towns have good schools, responsible government, low taxes, friendly neighbors and crime free streets. But for how long? As Birmingham declines under black rule, some blacks are starting to relocate there. For example, Hoover was only 3 percent black in 1990. It is now over 15 percent black. Unsurprisingly, crime is starting to rise. Paul Kersey continues to document the decline of once-great cities such as Detroit, Atlanta, Chicago and now Birmingham. But whatever the city, the formula is depressingly similar. Whites create and sustain a prosperous, clean and well-run city. An influx of blacks leads to high crime and poor schools, which starts white flight. Blacks eventually become the majority and assume political control. This intensifies white flight, the city becomes blacker and there is even more crime, blight, corruption, poverty and destruction. At some point, whites are going to have to make a stand against this trend—unless they want to keep moving on every decade or two until they run out of America. Perhaps this was why Bull Connor, George Wallace and the white people of Birmingham fought so hard against “Civil Rights.” If enacted, the Schumer-Rubio Amnesty/ Immigration Surge Act will bring even more dramatic demographic change to the U.S. If Birmingham is “The Tragic City,” American will be “The Tragic Country.” Peter Bradley (email him) writes from Washington D.C.

When blacks attack whites at a rate even higher than they currently do? When they ruin the lively hoods of you or like they did Paula Deen for exercising free speech, meanwhile they utter far worse slurs among themselves? When they don't allow our children to study or respect Washington or Jefferson because they were slave owners? When they sit on juries then acquit black defendants simply because they are black? When black athletes have utterly corrupted any notion of sportsmanship? When most whites you know wouldn’t dare enter a Black neighborhood alone for fear of being attacked, this despite most denying that that is the reason? It's time to wake up Whitey. Color me a realist. That still does not mean that I sanction hating, but reality is reality. However, I can never stop at the surface and so I ask why? And how? Here's the conundrum. In the early 60's the Civil Rights movement was winning. And we have to ask what were they campaigning on? It was not just equal rights it was simply to be treated with common decency and not be degraded simply for the color of the skin they were born with. And that was winning over a lot of whites to their argument. In fact so many that the handwriting was on the wall. Given time the Civil Rights Movement WOULD overcome. And I don't see that as bad. However, evidently our wonderful elites could not countenance that. So, a Machiavellian counter was devised. It was called "Affirmative Action". So, why do I say that? Because had the Civil Rights Movement continued with its parallel campaign of pushing blacks to seek higher education on their merits, and sought black candidates that could win on their merits and not merely because they were black then a more equitable arrangement would have been arrived at and blacks seeking office would have had to campaign and serve based on serving all the people and not based on the desire to set up a retaliatory racial spoils system. So, the apparent victory that black America was handed was actually once again the shitty end of the stick. Because Affirmative Action assured that non-qualified blacks would be hired and promoted not based on merit but based on race. That actually undermined much of what the Civil Rights Movement was trying to achieve i.e., raising blacks up as actual equal participants in the nation's life. Only it was not apparent to most at the time that the "Great Society" and Affirmative Action were poisoned fruits. MLK may have seen through it and that may have been one of the reasons he was whacked. Regardless of any of his human frailties the man was not stupid. So, the result of being handed these "victories" without the struggle to achieve them, and requiring adjustment on both sides of the divide to the new reality, what happened was a system that assured that blacks need not strive to compete on an equal footing. Instead they were "given" a share at others expense thus ensuring continued resentment as incompetent blacks were advanced over competent whites (and now Asians as well). So, the growth of Black America as an equal was quelled and died stillborn. So, we have now the evidence of how "well" that strategy worked. By subsidizing illegitimacy (welfare) while penalizing intact families (no benefits to families with a resident father) the already high black illegitimacy rate went from under 50% to its now 80%+. Cities that have become dominated by the racial spoils system have spiralled into the sewer. It is not because they have black leadership per se but because the black leadership was by and large selected because they were black and not because they were actually qualified. And the resentment still burns - on both sides. Why did it have to? Is it a law of the universe? I really appreciate your continuing effort to inject reason into the flow of consciousness, taking your lucky readers deeper than the mediated surface! People content to see only the surface of things are blind. Blinded by the false light of the MEdiaMatrix, the cult it supports and the creepy disease vectors passing cheap sparklers of style before your eyes. Reason and all dreams have been wallpapered over by human media and the effects of constant, lifelong media management, where YOU are managed by your media handlers! Racial and/or cultural differences surely exist but the main point being missed (by design) in this game of "pin the tail on the donkey", is that while the divide and conquer game is entertaining those easily distracted by hate-baiters, the real work of enslavement continues, secure in the knowledge that there will be NO uprising from among the thalamic-driven, emotion-ruled herd. Serving up factoids, out of context, especially those factoids which were deliberately manufactured, is easy work for the prison trustees! Look here! Here's a reason for you to be bitter and resentful (and passive) Look here! Here's an excuse for you to suppress your compassion (and be passive) Look over there! There's logic which allows your self-pity party to roll on, believing that your ego is in some way more worthy of the gift of life than "those peoples'" (and remain passive to power) The ongoing spectacle we are served up, consisting of many moving parts, many coinciding distractions, so many MSM "issues", has a bone for every dog. ANY abstract concept or belief with which you totally identify has captured your attention, the means by which you are held in bondage (not THAT kind of bondage! Stop getting wet, NSA perverts!) If you are the "oppressed" Talmudist, we all know how their totally identified belief in superiority mind-fucks the Tribe and all the rest of us! If you are an oppressed white person under siege from the NWO-funded invasion by older, even more corrupt cultures, HOWEVER THAT MAY BE TRUE, nonetheless, investing emotionally in that perception (as if that is all that you are) buys you nothing but your lifelong mind-control collar! All of us here at 4um understand the price we are paying for OTHER PEOPLEs' deluded beliefs and false identification with abstract labels: we walk gingerly among the walking dead, to avoid triggering a fit, seizure or irrational emotional meltdown and stay alert for agents of the Dark Lords, ready to run if necessary. Until we are sure that we ourselves are not being defeated by our own delusions (such as being powerless or that this world should be allowed to totally owned and trashed by soul-free entities) until then, we should not indulge in ANY comparisons to other egos, where we get to feel superior (or inferior, for that matter!) Instead, keep throwing off any and all sticky lures to plant yourselves in early graves, keep seeing through all the layers of lies, keep your self free of tyranny OVER your mind AND free of tyranny IN your mind. Look at the ways in which we are prodded and chuted into designing our own prisons! One profound reason why the awakening is occurring in slow motion at the moment is the intuitive knowledge, which cannot be reasoned away, that when we realize the power we have and have always had all along, we are RESPONSIBLE for how we have NOT used 'til now and that WE MUST use it or lose it, NOW. I recall quite a bit of talk about how affirmative action would be counterproductive to the stated objective; that if you wanted what they claimed to want they'd raise the standards, not lower them; that after women got equality men would still be walking behind the garbage trucks, etc., etc. If the riff raff that I hung out with could see it, I'm sure the intelligentsia could too. Regardless, if they couldn't see it 50 years ago, they should be able to see it now, and I haven't seen any blacks marching in the streets for an end to affirmative action or any of the 88 different welfare programs. Well, yeah, but I don't think this is all the fault of the "chozen ones" (jews). You also have the problem of the "jewish state" (Israel) acting as the trim tab* on the rudder of the ship of state in virtually every western democracy, dictating policy and you also have the problem of the "jews uber alles" crowd (zionists).
