You might want to provide the source for this alleged quote. And check your history book; Ariel Sharon, not Netanyahu, was Israeli PM in 2002.

Proving non-existence is always a great challenge, but this alleged quote appears only in pro-Arab media, which somehow cannot get the story straight - either it was said by Netanyahu to Pollard - in a prison visit which must have been watched and listened to (and Netanyahu would know that) by at least a few US officials, or else it was said by Netanyahu to a bunch of Americans who had 'just visited' Pollard in prison (except, of course, Pollard is in North Carolina, Netanyahu would be in Israel but not in office in 2002, etc.). This alleged quote has not appeared in any consequential newspaper in the English language, either in the US or any other English-speaking country. And, of course, an Israeli politician, particularly one trying to pry Pollard loose, would have better sense than to say something so inflammatory.

As for the bogus Ariel Sharon quote:

A study group recently released its findings as to the best presidents of the United States of America.

Obama has been rated as the 4th best president ever:

Reagan and 9 others tied for first, 15 presidents tied for second, 18 tied for third, and Obama came in fourth.

So? There's a lot of controversial stuff that the English-speaking press doesn't print. Did the quote appear in any of Israel's newspapers like Haaretz or Yedioth Ahronoth?

As I said, and have others, proving a negative is always tough. But the total lack of credibility in the sources, including the error about Netanyahu's position at the time, definitely makes the quotation doubtful and the people touting it have yet to provide anything resembling supporting evidence for its authenticity.

Let me take a wild guess here...you feel the same about what is written in the Talmud? The quoted statement isn't all that different from what is stated in the Talmud about gentiles. It is clearly stated that gentiles should be used as necessary and then tossed aside because they are less than animals.

Surely, this sentiment isn't foreign to your understanding. It's been around a very long time and goes back to the notion of "chosen" people.

You'll have to hunt that one up. The source won't be hard to find.

It's supposed to have been said within hearing of reporters and Pollard supporters by Netanyahu as he emerged from a visit to Jonathan Pollard's cell.

I tend to agree with Shoonra on this particular quote.

I haven't found any proof that Sharon said this to Peres publicly.

Sharon is a brutal war criminal but he's not a stupid politician.

IMHO, arguing about a unverifiable quote is a distraction from discussion of the horrific war crimes of Ariel Sharon. Sharon's despicable murderous actions are public knowledge - they will follow him to his grave.

I haven't looked it up yet, but my understanding is that he thought the cameras and microphone were off and so the unguarded comment slipped out.

This will be the same as the, now well documented, comment by Ariel Sharon regarding Jewish control of America - and the ability to subvert the U.S. Government to Israeli/Rotchild purposes. The shills will deny, deny, deny, until the documentation becomes good enough to where that is no longer workable, and then they will ignore it, pretending it was never said. In Sharon's case his comment is, I infer, likely what led to his being whacked.

"“Believe nothing merely because you have been told it. Do not believe what your teacher tells you merely out of respect for the teacher. But whatsoever, after due examination and analysis, you find to be kind, conducive to the good, the benefit, the welfare of all beings - that doctrine believe and cling to, and take it as your guide.” ~ Gautama Siddhartha — The Buddha

I tend to agree with Shoonra on this particular quote.

I haven't found any proof that Sharon said this to Peres publicly.

It was on Israeli Radio, but the interview, debate, report was in Hebrew. I do not find it surprising that it has not received more "airing" as it was a very revealing comment, and one not intended for Goy ears.

"I want to tell you something very clear, don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it." ~ Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael radio. (Source 1) (Source 2) (Source 3)

While the above are not definitive, and do not rise to the level of having an actual recording and transcript, it seems fairly certain that Sharon really did say what he credited with.

There's this:

U.S. intelligence sources report that the one Israeli who is considered an extreme threat to U.S. national security is former prime minister and current prime minister hopeful Binyamin Netanyahu. Not only has Netanyahu visited convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard in his North Carolina prison cell and advocated strenuously for his release, but he was once overheard by an ex-CIA agent as saying to a group of his supporters, “Once we squeeze all we can out of the United States, it can dry up and blow away.” Considering the damage the neocons and their Israeli facilitators are causing for U.S. national security, Netanyahu may soon have his wish.

© 2005 WayneMadsenReport.com. All Rights Reserved.

And if it could be proven that he ain't said it, he might as well have:

Netanyahu Worked Inside Nuclear Smuggling Ring

As revealed in previously released FBI files and the tell-all book Confidential: The Life of Secret Agent Turned Hollywood Tycoon Arnon Milchan, the Hollywood producer was recruited into Israel’s economic espionage division (LAKAM) in his 20s and learned how to establish front companies and secret bank accounts for smuggling operations. Arnon Milchan encouraged Smyth, a California engineer, to incorporate MILCO in 1972 and serve as a front for the Israel- based Heli Trading’s (also known as Milchan Limited) acquisitions of sensitive military technologies on behalf of the Ministry of Defense. Smyth fled the U.S. after being indicted for violating the Arms Export Control Act in the mid- 1980s. In July 2001, Smyth was arrested in Spain by Interpol and returned to the U.S., and in November, he was convicted of exporting 800 nuclear triggers (called krytrons).

FBI agents interviewed Smyth on April 16-17, 2002, at the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles. The secret interview report details how during a trip to Israel Smyth was “spotted” by Milchan, who claimed he worked as an exclusive purchasing agent for the Ministry of Defense. Smyth was introduced around to high military officials including then-general Ariel Sharon. Smyth was also put in contact with Benjamin Netanyahu, who worked at Heli Trading Company. According to the FBI report, “Smyth and [Netanyahu] would meet in restaurants in Tel Aviv and in [Netanyahu's] home and/or business. It was not uncommon for [Netanyahu] to ask Smyth for unclassified material.”

Milchan pulled Smyth into his glamorous, star-studded movie circuit. “While in the United States [Smyth] met with [Milchan] numerous times in Los Angeles. … Milchan and Smyth would have dinner frequently and would visit one another’s house often … it was quite common for [Milchan] to invite [Smyth] to various Hollywood parties and introduce [Smyth] to celebrities.”

During the 2002 Smyth counterintelligence debriefing, the FBI learned that the Ministry of Defense ordered and paid Heli Trading for krytrons. Heli in turn sourced them from MILCO in a clandestine operation codenamed Project Pinto. The report reveals how MILCO illegally shipped prohibited articles under general Commerce Department export licenses rather than smuggling them out via Israeli diplomatic pouches. The last time Smyth saw Milchan was in 1985. The Ministry of Defense issued a burn notice on Smyth after discussions with U.S. officials about the krytron smuggling. According to the FBI report, “Shortly thereafter, [Smyth] fled the United States.”

A March 2012 statement by the co-authors of Confidential claims that “Hollywood mega-producer and former secret agent Arnon Milchan has been asked directly by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres to avoid any public discussion of the book Confidential, asserting that the matter is too sensitive at this time.” Although the book’s authors point to the escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, Netanyahu’s own hands-on involvement in nuclear weapons–related covert action against America is presumably a far more compelling reason for the gag order.

* The FBI referred an additional 164 pages of the Mandatory Declassification Review to another government agency — presumably the CIA — for further review. The additional pages will likely never be released. The CIA has refused requests for similar documents in order to preserve intelligence sources and methods abroad.

The mere fact that this fake quote has been repeated and recycled on pro-Arab and anti-Jewish websites and publications does not make it genuine.

The conflicting stories of when/where the quote was made should be enough to make sensible people wary. For some reason some entries in this thread have Netanyahu saying this to Peres, which is even more implausible than the other stories.

There are enough choice, well-sourced quotes in this tenor from such folks to choke a horse.

1. "There is a huge gap between us (Jews) and our enemies not just in ability but in morality, culture, sanctity of life, and conscience. They are our neighbors here, but it seems as if at a distance of a few hundred meters away, there are people who do not belong to our continent, to our world, but actually belong to a different galaxy." Israeli president Moshe Katsav. The Jerusalem Post, May 10, 2001

2. "The Palestinians are like crocodiles, the more you give them meat, they want more".... Ehud Barak, Prime Minister of Israel at the time - August 28, 2000. Reported in the Jerusalem Post August 30, 2000

9. David Ben Gurion (the first Israeli Prime Minister): "If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" Quoted by Nahum Goldmann in Le Paraddoxe Juif (The Jewish Paradox), pp121.

9a. Ben Gurion also warned in 1948 : "We must do everything to insure they ( the Palestinians) never do return." Assuring his fellow Zionists that Palestinians will never come back to their homes. "The old will die and the young will forget."

15. "We should prepare to go over to the offensive. Our aim is to smash Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, and Syria. The weak point is Lebanon, for the Moslem regime is artificial and easy for us to undermine. There is not a single place built in this country that did not have a former Arab population." Moshe Dayan, address to the Technion, Haifa, reported in Haaretz, April 4, 1969.

18. "We walked outside, Ben-Gurion accompanying us. Allon repeated his question, What is to be done with the Palestinian population?' 20. "There are some who believe that the non-Jewish population, even in a high percentage, within our borders will be more effectively under our surveillance; and there are some who believe the contrary, i.e., that it is easier to carry out surveillance over the activities of a neighbor than over those of a tenant. [I] tend to support the latter view and have an additional argument:...the need to sustain the character of the state which will henceforth be Jewish...with a non-Jewish minority limited to 15 percent. I had already reached this fundamental position as early as 1940 [and] it is entered in my diary." Joseph Weitz, head of the Jewish Agency's Colonization Department. From Israel: an Apartheid State by Uri Davis, p.5.

21. "Everybody has to move, run and grab as many hilltops as they can to enlarge the settlements because everything we take now will stay ours... Everything we don't grab will go to them." Ariel Sharon, Israeli Foreign Minister, addressing a meeting of militants from the extreme right-wing Tsomet Party, Agence France Presse, November 15, 1998.

22. "It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands." Yoram Bar Porath, Yediot Aahronot, of 14 July 1972.

23. "Spirit the penniless population across the frontier by denying it employment... Both the process of expropriation and the removal of the poor must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly." But Sharon parlayed his terrorism into a successful military career and after that to being a very successful politician. Ariel Sharon is not a stupid man. To express that sentiment publicly on radio would be the mark of a stupid man.

Basically Sharon was a stupid man. Do not mistake cunning and crafty for serious intelligence. It takes much more to build than to destroy. Sharon was by all that we can see of his "works" not a man to be lauded. Ultimately he was evil, psychotically so, and that is basically stupid as it provides for the degradation of a society and culture when such an individual is propelled into power.

By your logic we would have to conclude that Bushbama was an intelligent man - all evidence to the contrary aside.

Amazing.

They say it, and (evidently) no one but the Pali's, and most of the thinking world believes them.

That reply is worthy of a "They Said It" post to 4.

And by his works, shall we say Sabra and Shatilla, a very vile man.

Once again that's my point - see post #15.

Ariel Sharon by his actions, which are public knowledge and have been verified, is a war criminal many times over.

Sharon's contemptible war crimes should be the focus of discussions IMHO, not a hearsay meaningless quote by him.

If you want proof positive evidence of Israel's reprehensible influence on American politics and its foreign policy, Professors Mearsheimer and Walt have written a 496 page book that includes copious numbers of sourced footnotes throughout their text and an extensive ( 50+ pages) bibliography.

Why bother using an unverified Sharon quote, unless you want to make Shoonra's day happy.

Point Granted Milady. Despite no exhaustive documentation from original sources it nevertheless sounds like something Sharon would have said - given my reading of his (lack of) charater. However, your point is valid and I must accede it to you. Thhhhhhppppp! :-)

Basically Sharon was a stupid man.

Parenthetically, we're used to referring to this stupid man in the past tense, but he's still alive in a coma and has been pooping along on life support for the past six years.

Even if he never spoke the words, his actions have, many, many times over.

...pooping along on life support for the past six years.

Fighting like the devil to keep from joining him in the depths of Hell.

I don't blame him.

Amazing.

They say it, and (evidently) no one but the Pali's, and most of the thinking world believes them.

There are two forces at work here.

That most people, under the influence of false data, cannot and will not believe it because it goes against everything they have been taught. (Remember - I was once one of the more rabid, and effective person to person as well as in class in College, defenders of Israel and Zionism in my circle. It was only that peculiar love of the truth that I am afflicted with that pulled me off of the reservation.)

Our media is tightly controlled and anyone who goes off the dictated script is immediately disposed of. This ensures that only the lies get repeated over and over and that the truth does not enter the conversation.

True, but I suspect he is there for some action his superiors in the hidden chain of command found too egregious to ignore - he was becoming an embarrassment.
