Get A Grip
Did you know that people who are more adept at even simple physical events, such as shaking another persons hand, are more likely to live longer than those who are barely hangin on?
According to a combination of studies that examined the ability of patients to perform a variety of tasks such as walking, balancing, rising from a chair and gripping, there is a strong correlation between completion of these activities and delayed mortality.
In one study that looked at grip strength, those with a limp wrist had a death rate that was almost twice as high versus those who had a firm grip on life. In other research, it was noted that individuals who had a brisk walking pace were more likely to stay ahead of the Grim Reaper at a rate almost three times their slower counterparts.
These results published in the British Medical Journal also point out the fact that the successful completion of even simple physical acts is associated with lower mortality in both the elderly and younger populations. So, if you want to live longer, get a grip
