These ions go about your body stealing electrons. This leads to premature aging and wrinkles. If one of those ions steals an electron from your DNA, then your cellular memory is attacked and aging ensues. Dr Bergman starts off this lecture with a few definitions. PH (Hydrogen Potential) is level of acid to base. An acid is defined as the ability to donate hydrogen. Metabolism is involved in building up and breaking down. Catabolism is breaking down only. Anabolism is building up only. Phytonutrients are plant nutrients evolved in response to viruses, pathogens and cancer. The body builds a billion cells a day and kills a billion cells a day. Increase build up over break down and you are well. The pancreas secretes Bicarb to raise PH levels in the blood. Bicarbonate of Soda or Baking Soda has a PH of 12. The Pancreas has to work harder with an acidic diet. Blood has a PH above 7.35 and 7.45. When food comes out of the stomach, it has a PH of about 3.5. The Pancreas has to secrete a tremendous amount of Bicarb to balance the PH of your food. It has to work exceptionally hard with an Acidic diet. Diet soda has a PH of 2.5 to 3. An anti-oxidant donates an electron to free radicals and prevents oxidation which accelerates aging. Anti-oxidants are good. The body balances PH by 1) Respiration 2)Perspiration 3) Urination and 4) Mineral and Nutrient Depletion of Ca, Mg, Iodine, K and Na. Exercise is helpful because it increases respiration and perspiration. Deep breathing 15 minutes a day also helps. You need a healthy water intake to have perspiration. Soda and coffee both dehydrate you. If your body is acidic, it will take out Ca and MG from your bone to maintain a 7.35 PH level. It will also take iodine, K and Na from the body. Iodine reduction harms the Thyroid. The number 1 source of calories in the US is soda at 46 gallons a year. Soda also has a tremendous amount of phosphorous which acidifies the blood. One of his patients drank diet soda every day for ten years and wound up getting a pace maker. Inflammation can be chronic or acute. Acute inflammation = Life Saving. Swelling (Tumor), Heat (Calor), Redness (Rubor), Pain (Dolor).(Latin terms) Chronic inflammation. Death and Disease by Catabolism. Chronic diseases are system wide inflammations beyond the body's ability to cope. These include: Heart disease, Alzheimer's, Depression, Cancer, Aging, Strokes, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Diabetes, Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. Every cell wall has a double layer of lipids (fats.) Every cell wall has cholesterol. The human body had 70 trillion cells. Cells take in nutrients, eliminate toxins and produce proteins. Health is optimal cell function. Sickness is lack of optimal cell function. Type II diabetes can be cured in 4 to 6 days with the body completely healed in 30 days.
