JERUSALEM, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Israel's military attache in Russia was reprimanded for Israel's missile test in the Mediterranean Sea last week, which alerted Russian radars of a possible military action against Syria, Israeli media reported based on Russian reports.

The joint experiment, conducted by Israel and the United States last Tuesday, raised tensions throughout the Middle East as the Russians reported a possible missiles launch across the Mediterranean after spotting two ballistic launches in their radars.

The Israeli defense establishment admitted to be responsible and to have conducted the experiment along with the United States.

According to reports on Russian media, following the incident, Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov called the Israeli military attache in Moscow for further clarifications. The report also said that Antonov told the Israeli attache that now is not a good time to conduct such experiments in the area.

The summoning of the attache is quite an unusual event, according to a senior Israeli official who talked with the Ha' aretz daily.

The Israeli Defense Forces and the Foreign Ministry did not comment on the report.

As the world awaits a U.S. resolution on whether it is going to attack Syria over the potential use of chemical weapon, Israel, a main U.S. ally in the region, is preparing for a possible retaliation from Lebanon or Syria. Subscribe to *The Freedom4um Cook Book*

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out... without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.” ~ H. L. Mencken
