True. However, the current psychotically evil PTB are afraid that if too many armed citizens figure out, finally, what they have really been up to then their control will evaporate. Of course there is the thought that they could also wind up going on a "Pitchfork Ride" as well.

The major drawback to an armed citizenry, from the viewpoint of would be dictators and mass murderers, is that they shoot back. Only once they become desperate though, but corner a man in defense of his family who has no other options left, and while in the end he may go down, he is going to do his best to take an "Honor Guard" along for the ride.
