I have an American white friend of mine who worked in Signal Intelligence and married a Japanese woman. As a matter of fact, he just sent me two cds of photos he and his wife took while they were in Japan. Beautiful scenery and architecture. They have been married for over ten years. However, I sense that many Japanese women come to America to marry American men as they will be treated better. I cannot figure that one out a bit and I don't agree as I believe it has much to do with how the man was raised by his mother. However, from my personal experience, I studied karate (Shotokan-"Body Dymanics") for three years and my sensi was Japanese. One thing I picked up about him and his culture was that women were secondary importance and they always walked two paces behind the men. It was very difficult for me when I would be in his dojo involved in physical sparring matches with three opponents (one brown belt, and two black belts) on opposite sides and having my sensi speaking to me in condenscending manner. We all had to learn this motto in the course:
1. Seek perfection of character 2. Be Faithful 3. Endeavor 4. Respect Others 5. Refrain from violent behavior
Hard to believe I still recall all this after years gone by including the 21 forms of kata kiai. But when I read your post about how the Japanese men treat their own women, you would think they would also abide by the very same motto they taught me.
Apparently, women in Japan have no intrinsic value unless they are from an aristocratic family. And as for American liberated women like myself, I had too much spunk for his kind.
Asian women as soon as they get to America will quite often criticize their men for being too small. That king of public humiliation will guarantee half or more of men will go crazy. I have heard that kind of insult given to Asian men by their wives many times and from many nations.
