Most people have become aware of the dangers of Big Pharma. Prescription drugs now cause more deaths annually than illegal drugs, and the CDC director himself admits "it's a big problem, and it's getting worse." The AMA admits nearly 300 people are killed by prescription drugs every day. However, this danger also applies to our furry friends: our dogs, cats and other pets. In particular, one commonly prescribed arthritis drug which has been surrounded by controversy and caused a lot of deaths in canines is RIMADYL. Rimadyl had netted Pfizer Inc. tens of millions of dollars in sales but after numerous reports of dog deaths, the FDA said Pfizer must mention "death" as a potential side effect on their TV ads. Instead, the company opted to drop the TV ads altogether. In 2007, My dog Maxine had a harrowing experience with Rimadyl and nearly died, but survived. Martin, that's a great photo of Maxine sitting in the snow on the link!! She looks very happy!!! I can't fathom what use Rimadyl has when the side-effects are so deadly, the glucosamine chondroitin is such an obvious answer to canine/feline arthritis.
Our dogs, and I, have been using Swanson brand MicroLactin Glucosamine, w/H.A., for several months now to good effect.
great. Maxine did very well on her glucosamine for many years. it made a noticeable difference with no negative side effects.
