ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) – Algeria’s energy minister says a new oil field containing an estimated 1.3 billion barrels has been discovered. Youcef Yousfi told the state news agency Saturday that the discovery near the large oil fields in the southern region of Hassi Messaoud is one of the most important in the last 20 years. Repsol: North Africa is world’s next big shale prospect He added the state oil company, Sonatrach, will rely on unconventional techniques to extract 50 percent of the reserves, including hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. The field will be exploited in the next three to four years following the necessary studies, the report added. Algeria, an energy giant in Africa that already is one of the largest natural gas suppliers to Europe, had been concerned about declining oil reserves.

He was in WW II. He was also a Master Plumber. He built many of those buildings along Lake Shore Drive and Sheridan Road. He had a 30-man gang working for him at one time. He told me there is enough oil in the world to drown the entire human race. I believe him if only for the fact that we keep discovering oil in all of these places. Even if it is oil that is locked up in shale. I was a rockhound when I was a kid. We used to go to this quarry in Rennselaer, Indiana to collect Pyrite and Marcasite. Both were Iron Sulfides, FeS2. The Macasite was unstable and would degrade, but the Pyrite was wonderfully beautiful. It was an oily, gooey place. Oil might be biotic, i.e. renews it. There can't be enough plants in prehistory to produce this much oil, coat, etc.

What????? You telling me oil aint dead dinosaurs????? In Skool they said it was from dinos and plants long ago. I wonder if there is anything else I was taught that is untrue???

Oil might be biotic, i.e. renews it. There can't be enough plants in prehistory to produce this much oil, coat, etc.

I wonder if there is anything else I was taught that is untrue??? I know you are up there in years, Cyni, but were you inculcated with that nonsense that Hitler murdered six million Joos? I know it sounds hard to believe, but those people died from Typhus. Typhus was carried by fleas. Germany asked the U.S. to sell them DDT to kill the fleas that carried the Typhus. The 1940s was the beginning of the end for public schools. Schools were owned and paid for by each small community or city division. There was NO Federal involvement, very little State involvement. Then along came the brainwashing and programming of the 1950s. Bigger was better, throw more money at education and everyone will be smarter. Total loss. Now we have factories not schools, turning out kids that are suited for nothing.
